Thanks for the update about the clips. I just got mine set of Kappa's from Amazon for $82 delivered. How would you describe the sound compared to stock?


I will probably touch base with you about all the stuff you did to your Auto and how it's performing.

Use a panel removal tool.

Check your local auto parts store and pick up a set. Will be a good investment no mater what car you get.

Useful DIY, but in post #9 where the grill panels are removed, something should be added. Instead of directly pulling up hard on the panel, lift up the front (easy) then look in with a flashlight. There's a support about 2" to the outside of the edge of the center panel. That's where the main resistance is. Using a screwdriver, you can reach in and pop that from the metal it clips to quite easily and avoid straining or breaking the grill panel.

 

Nice write up, I am slapping in some nice Kenwood 6x9's and a bazooka bass tube I have had laying around for a while.

 

I am planning to get some really nice polk speakers.

Off topic: what kind of rims are those?

This post has helped me alot, I've been rattle hunting in the back of the car and didn't know how to remove the speaker panels until I came here

Just wanted to ask, if I update my Bose system rear speakers with Infinity 693.7i do I need to use crossovers or not?

 

Just finished installing my rear Infinity Kappa 693.11I's, it was super easy! Just pop out rear seats, pop out the top panel covers, take out the old and screw in the new!

I already had a line output converter, subwoofer, and 4 channel amp installed so most of the hard work was done already. Currently have 300 watts RMS is going to the subwoofer, and 150 watts RMS to each speaker.

Sounds waaay better! next up i am swapping out the tweeters up front.

 

btw, these are the speakers i purchased for the rear (the name of the item on amazon since adding links to amazon doesnt seem to work):

Dang that some serious work just to pull out the speakers. I hope my 8 will already have aftermarket speakers or else I'm taking it to you.

 

it is MUCH easier than it looks to pull the speakers trust me!
