I was in NJ driving RX-8 from 2004 thru 2007, with all season tire. It's fine for most days in winter, since the road is plowed nicely in most places. Obviously, you are not going anywhere in the blizzard. The all-season I ran include Pirelli PZero Nero M+S & Kumho ASX (Pirelli being the better of two), hanlded nicely for light-duty autox as well.
Anyway, you shouldn't need 17" rim & snow tire. If you do want 18", I have black OZ Ultraleggera & gray Motoforge SG10, both light and exact stock fitment (18x8 et45). They look very nice and not found on every single car out there. I'm in norcal, so PM if you are interested, whether about rim purchase or my NJ winter driving experience.
