Clock, Radio, Media, Faceplate Not Working

Hey all I have a series II with a stock deck. Yesterday the lcd flashed mazda rx8 a bunch of times and the next time I started her up the temp (outside) had moved to the left of the lcd and the right side of the lcd showed HVAC settings. All the information in the middle (time, radio, media etc.) is gone. The HVAC still functions fine but nothing on the faceplate works. I have checked a few fuses and removed and double checked the connections at the back of the headunit. All is good and tight. I hadn't hit a bump or anything it was maybe a little chillier than normal that's all. I have reset the ECU a couple times since then as well.

Please help as I love my music and this is very frustrating.

ps. On a side note, what is happening to my LCD (what shows up) is the exact same as what happens when you install an aftermarket headunit in the series II's. I'll link the thread that discusses that issue below. Also you can see what the lcd display looks like in that thread.

Thanks in advance!

any info at all on this?? I took every fuse out and tested voltage. Took the faceplate off and checked all the connectors and all the grounds. Everything is good.

have you removed it to make sure nothing is disconnected? Has it ever been removed before?

Yup as it says in my original post I removed the unit and checked and rechecked all the connections unplugging and even dielectric greasing the connections to be sure.

Did you ever fix this? I have the same issue and I have read many forum replies stating that the issue is with the connections. I have triple checked these and changed the faceplate, but the issue persists. It is certainly a lose connection because it will work on reassembly when outside my house. And sometime it drives for 1 mile, sometimes 10, but it always stops working at some point. It is driving me mad.
