The Pettit install on a S2 is not really possible for the average person. Moon's kit is way way custom. Hopefully Pettit comes up with something for you guys.

Cam will soon be out with the s/c kit for the "S2" and will have a tune for it. Cobb has washed his hands of the RX8 and has turned it over to MM.

Anyone have ideas for replacing the supercharger in the Pettit kit? It's discontinued now...

A Kenne Bell 2.1 liter bug bore is the same length as the Lysholm MX-417....
The Whipple 100-AX is a screamer at 20,000 rpms that is slightly smaller than the current Pettit blower.
The other Lysholm/Autorotor model that is interesting is the MX-420, slightly more than an inch longer than the current Pettit blower and would almost bolt in, except for the front intake "Intake snout-brace and bolt to the intercooler" would be need to be removed/realigned, the belt stays in the same place and the blower moves back 1.25 inches closer to the firewall... (or where the firewall was before percussive persuasion)

Yeh, been a lot of work. ALMOST wishing I got an 08 but I like the challenge. Already did it once it'll happen again. At this point since I did the fab work in the snow last winter I guess I let some condensation in the motor which caused a seal to stick but not bad enough to cause running issues. I'm just waiting to pull the motor so I can fix the problem. Yes I've tried all the quick fixes without any luck so I gotta bite the bullet and pull the motor. Just gotta find the time. I'm also putting the 650cc injector in the primary position due to fuel injector staging issues with the management option I have. The Powermod seems to work well on 6 injector 8s but I cant get a signal to fire the secoundarys from the stock ECU to keep up with fuel demand till 6200 I think it is.

The gasoline side of a "wet" nitrous system on a separate fuel pump, would be one solution, if you could tune it to work.
(if all else fails, you can add the NO2 nozzle side, and reorganize the intake explosively LOL).

Cam and the boys at Pettit simply need to develop a kit/source an ecu and make it happen for the S2 boys.

Pettit is THE industry leader in rotary performance. It's actually surprising to me that they haven't stepped up--despite the old market demand argument. It's not as if NOBODY would buy a turnkey kit for the S2--especially given the success and reputation of the S1 kit.

It would have been done by now. Just like Pettit had the flash capability's before anyone. Cam had the resources, his name was Bill Hart. Fat heads on this forum hung everyone with a S2 that needs flash capability's by chasing him off. It is what it is, just keep in mind when you see something like this happen again that your biting the hand that feeds. https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-engine-tuning-forum-63/open-source-naturally-aspirated-performance-tune-file-139327/
And he was doing this as a hobby and a favor to Cam, not to make money. The guys who chased Bill off have no idea what to do when it comes to this, if they did we wouldnt be waiting or depending on other options to say the least.

It's truly a pitiful situation, actually.

This site actually has one of the least "friendly" and welcoming consituency of any other online community and resource that I frequent. It seems that many participants that post in threads like the one you linked have some type of axe to grind, or agenda. Discussions seem to deteriorate quickly around here to pissing matches between a pompous few. Can't say I blame that Bill fella for ditching the site, and the project.

Now, NONE of the S2 owners have chit to look forward to, and all of the local "experts"around here aren't proposing a damn thing.

Well done.

Completely agreed .... this forum is one of the most abrasive i've ever been on, regardless of the reasons ... it's pretty rediculous at times.

As a newbie with a S2, I feel like this thread has just shot all of my hopes of ever getting decent performance upgrades on my 8.

as a guy that knows bill hart did not do the hack on the first rx8. but put the two together.

the s2 is going to rely on help from the ms3. i really really hope it happens.

as i am impressed with the fact that richard paul is doing a short shifter for the series 11 cars..

Well regardless of whether it works on the S2, there's still no blower for the current Pettit kit so no one (S1 or S2) is getting a kit right now... unless they've solved that. Anyone have any new information from Cam?

Nah that's not entirely true .... there's a turbo set up, also someone has a standalone they can wire in but no ones tried it yet. I plan on doing nitrous and a standalone this spring ... hopefully that goes well. turbo hopefully the following year.

I saw your thread in the ECU forum (and the disheartening end) and I applaud your tenacity. I'm a 20 year old autocrosser and on my budget, I can't really afford to go with custom and experimental set ups.

Thanks man ... I like the experimentation.... can be a little frustrating at times, but if it were easy what kind of reward is there. Plus , once we do get it figured out.... we'll have something really unique. Not many people are going to go thru all the crap you need to go thru for this car, lol , there's just nothing easy for it ... with the exception of the damn cold air intake which does just about nothing except look cool.

The last I heard they were looking at several possible blower models, the Whipple 100AX was a possible, but is pricey.

Actually not much, while the drag racing roots type blowers consume about 50 HP, the smaller models we use, would be limited to drag off maybe 20 to 25 HP at the most.

Hymee has gone very quiet.

They still haven't found one? Damn.. last I asked for almost 3 years ago and they said that the blower was the only issue they had left to solve

^^^ Cant say that Cam is really putting any real effort into this, he's primarily concentrating on FDs and other projects these days
