So the Michelin pax tire system has been used by Renault and the VW-group (Audi, Rolls-Royce and Bugatti).
Do you think that Ford will allow Mazda install it on the 8?

I sure hope so, in 2004 there is no excuse for not having run flats. I know about increased unsprung weight and all that yang and if I had a pit crew on a track I wouldnt need run flats. I already checked with Tire Rack and no run flats are available in the size we need. Not Michelin, GY, Dunlop, Bridgestone or anyone else. I did not get the ridiculous dealer installed spare tire kit, It reduces the trunk so I couldn't go on a trip where I might actually need a spare. I am actually more concerned about a hi speed blowout and the Tire pressure monitor is of value there (I hope).
Bridgestone makes a Potenza RE050 Run Flat tire, size 225/40ZR-18. The overall tire diameter is 25.2 vs 25.9 for the standard tire - close enough. I got mine from America's Tire Co. The ride is actually better than the stock tires.
