trans pops into qst

When shifting from n to 1the the trans pops. It also does it when shifting gears some time. I just got this 06 rx8 sport eith 50k miles friday. The dealer which is not mazda said they would look at it but the know nothing about rotaries and there 2 year certified warranty wont cover it which they failed to tell me. The shifter shakes violently even my 600hp kb cobra does not shake like this. I thinks ots either a mount or a throw out bearing. Any ideas?

Could be, but until you get it checked out it is hard to say. The shaking doesn't make sense, that would be due to bad engine mounts or misaligned power plant frame. There are no transmission mounts in the traditional sense. Your powertrain warranty has expired so if it is the tranny then you are better off buying a used one as rebuilds are much more expensive.

Great im a make this dealership pay for it or take it back as they guaranteed it is perfect and a warranty.

When you say "pop" do you mean popping out of gear? Or popping noise?

sorry about the bad writing, I was on my cell phone earliar and t9 messed it all up. It makes a clunking / popping sound as you push it into gear. Sitting at stop lights put clutch in to the floor and move shifter to 1st its makes it. its hard enough to feel it through the car. It also makes it randomly when shifting gears.

Driving home from work i was able to duplicate it while shifting driving 10 mph or so shift from 1st to 2nd and back to 1st and it will do it in both of those gears. This vehicle was local owned so i am going to the mazda dealer tommorow to get all the service records from them. I bought it from a non Mazda dealer, and they ovbiously have no clue about rotaries, which the service manager told me on the phone.

The issue is I have had it for less than a week and have had this issue pop up, plus it smells of burnt oil all the time while idleing. I love this car to death and it is fun, i also anticipated it costing more to maintain, but not 4 days after purchase.
