seat warmer

Some douche bag hit my rear bumper abd the body shop said I had to replace the whole bumper! There was some paint chipped off and scratches on the black part under the liscence plate. Apparently its all one piece! I get the new bumper and before I step into my car I noticed those bastards scratched up the plastic piece under the door, you know the piece that you have to lift your foot over to get out? I pointed it out to the body shop guy and he was like ho hum no biggie, its a big deal to me! I can deal with it, if I have to I will just buy a new kick plate but what really fried me was this morning when I left for work at 3:30am it was cold and rainy anf now my seat heater isn't working! Wtf?? I guess when I get home I will have to check fuses and stuff!! Don't tell me to search I'm not asking for help just needed to vent!! Anybody else have thse sort of problems with shops?

Work on your own car.

A rear bumper replacement isn't very difficult. The only person that cares about your car is you. Anytime you hand it over to someone else, you risk them messing it up.

Then you're at the mercy of the shop. . .

Pay more and take it to a better shop I guess.

Do you mind me asking how much the new bumper and installation set you back?

Not at all, the total repair was $1050.00. I just had to pay my deductible! The bumper itself was $350.00! I probably could have just taken off the bumper and put a new one on but there is more to than that! The end caps behind the rear wheels had to be painted to match the bumper!

That isn't too bad then. Good price on the bumper for sure.

I understand working on your own car isn't an option for all, but when this happened to me (a shop overfilled my oil causing MASSIVE problems for me) I just decided I was tired of dealing with people that don't care.

You could try going back to the insurance company and tell them that damaged was caused by the repair shop... worth a shot.

So I look in the fuse box and see there is no fuse in the seat warmer spot. I call the body shop:
me: hey mike did you remove any fuses when you replaced my bumper because my seat warmers arent working?
mike: No there is no reason to remove it!
me: well they worked before I brought my car in.
mike: the tech is right here hold on.
me: ok
mike: hey you there?
me: ya
mike: ya they took some fuses out because they couldnt get the car started and thought the fuel pump fuse was blown, bring it back in and we will take a look.
me: no way your getting your hands on my car again.

On a semi related note, when I was getting a tyre replaced the guy dragged the air hose accross the roof of my car scratching the **** out of it. First he tried to deny it even though I'd just seen him do it, then he said "yeah but there's already other scratches on the car." What a ****** moron. Going by that logic, if he had a black eye already then it wouldn't matter if I broke his jaw too!

I try to do as much on my car myself, but for some things you've got no choice but to hand it over to someone else.
