Quick/Minor question.

I recently bought an '07 RX-8, and noticed a small 'issue', which isn't a big deal, but since the car is still under warranty, I might have them fix it while I can.

Is the passenger side seat heater switch supposed to illuminate like the driver's side switch?

If it is, does anyone know if the light is built into the switch, or if you can replace the light without replacing the whole switch. I'm sure I could swap it out myself, which would beat having to leave it at the dealer for a couple of hours.

Any help/insight would be appreciated!

I would let the dealer fix it. That's what Warranty is for.

light is built into the switch. The light is also used as a diagnostic aid to ensure power is flowing to the seat. The lack of light could mean a break in the circuit (a heated seat is simply a bare "exposed" circuit which is so thin it heats when current passes through it) Be sure your passenger's heated seat works.

My when I turn my switch on, sometimes the light does not come on until I tap the switch. Not under warranty anymore

Small clarification: There are two parts on the switch that can illuminate, apparently. The little picture of the chair comes on when the headlights are switched on. When you flip the seat heat switch on, there's another light that comes on (shaped like a little square).

The square light works on both of my switches, but the passenger seat heater light does not illuminate when the headlights are turned on (ie. the little 'seat' picture on the switch stays dim). I'm guessing there's some little bulb in there that is burned out?

I forgot about the light that illuminates the switch when you turn the headlights on. Based on this diagram and the shop manual, the entire passenger side switch would get replaced.

My driver side square light sometimes does not come on unless I tap my driver's side switch. I'll have to check the connector if I ever go in there again.

those switches have a tendency to pop apart barely and get loose from being touched weird, honestly ive had a couple in cars simple pop open while sliding the connector out.

and my other post was making assumption of the square light being out, forgot you could have meant the chair one, that is probably a bulb.
