PA need to replace coils after plugs?

so recently i had my car at the dealership with a clogged cat caused by prolonged misfire. so for $140 i had them do the spark plugs and wires. but they wanted to charge me an extra $180 to do the coils (just the coils!!!) which dont look to be that hard to do for me. so im doing them myself. heres the question.....

i read somewhere that if i have bad coils and i replace the plugs n wires but not the coils and run the car i am effectively decreasing the life of my plugs. so that would mean that i would have to change the coils in the dealership parking lot. my question would be, with failing original coils and new plugs and wires, can i start the car once and drive it 5 miles from the dealer to my house so i can do it @ the comfort of my house. and if i start it and drive it how much damage will i do? honestly.

quick help would be great to get a ride tomm.

180 bucks is a good price.

Does that include the parts?

Don't act like a woman and be paranoid.

Nothing is going to happen to the plugs for a few hundred miles.

Relace the coils when you have time.

You can check the forum vendor section for coils and plugs
Good deals can be had. Search around a little
Coils are supper easy to replace... just do them one at a time to keep the wires straight

Finishlineperformance has OEM coils for about $40. These are new straight from Rosenthal Mazda in Virgina.

Replacing the coils is not hard. 10mm socket, couple of extensions, ratchet and you are set. Do one at a time to avoid mixing wires. :-)
