IMTV Stuck Open

I got a CEL the other day when I started my 8 up after work. The CEL lasted for a day or two then it went out.
I went to a garage and they ran a scan, code came up P2070 IMTV Stuck Open. Would this need to be replaced or is there a way of cleaning/unsticking IMTV?

Try to reach under the intake manifold and move it manually. See if there is a lot of resistance. I've freed them up before by moving them manually, then running seafoam through the motor. What happens is you get carbon buildup and it sticks the valve. Or it could be a control issue with the vacuum hose or solenoid.

The valve had some play and was able to be moved manually.. Then I put a bottle of seafoam and filled her with fuel, and proceeded to 'drive her like I stole her'. Most of the power seems to have returned even low-end, startups are good no more weird noises, idles smooth, and CEL is gone. Thanks for the info.

I spoke too soon... Once I went through the seafoam, valve is sticking again. This morning once I started it up and let it heat up (waited a minute or two) It almost stalled when I tried to leave in 1st gear, I had to give a good shot of gas and then was able to get moving, slowly. As well on the highway it almost had no power when I stepped on the gas.
I will be taking it all apart to clean intake and SSV. Is there anything in particular I should be using to clean these parts or is regular break cleaner sufficient?
Is there any way of testing to see if it is actuator or solenoid? Or do I just clean everything up and wait to see if problem still exists?

SSV does not effect low rpm driving. there is something else wrong with your car.

either ignition, fuel pump, in some rare cases the sensor in your Throttle body (yes, there is one) is on it's way out and it will cause all kinds of weird problems without a CEL.

or worst case is your engine having some issue.

The engine is only a month old reman. with compression tested in the 9's. I mostly experience the hesitations while at highway speeds, but sometimes on start up. CEL doesn't always come on, but whenever it does, periodically, its p2070 IMTV stuck. Is there any way of checking ignition, fuel pump and throttle sensor?

...and I get a solid amber CEL at low speeds, but when I try to bring RPM's up to 8-9, I get a flashing amber CEL. Its only ever brought up the code p2070.

You need to spray the seafoam into the intake manifold. I use the plastic nipple right behind the throttle body. Have a helper hold the rpms to 4000 rpm so while you let the seafoam suck it. Its best if you can stall the motor with it, then let it sit for 15 min. Afterwards it will smoke like crazy but go drive the **** out of it to clear it out. If you have lower rpm issue it might be the vdi.
