Car keyless remote doesn't work
So my remote stopped working, guessed it was a dead battery, replaced it with a new one, tried to recode it and didn't work. checked the battery with a multimeter and it's good.
I've tried coding a while ago when my remote still worked to see if the instructions i had were the right ones and everything responded as it should have.
One thing i noticed this time is when the car locks and unlocks in response, the passenger door locks but doesn't unlock. Don't know if it did the same thing when i tried it before.
So i was wondering if:
1. someone could tell me what this metal piece does because i'm guessing while i was opening it to try and see if it was internally damaged AFTER i tried coding it, it fell out. maybe i can rig it somehow.
2. someone who's an electronics guru could tell me how to troubleshoot it
any help would be much appreciated.

I zoom therefore I am.
when you're trying to unlock the doors the passenger door doesnt unlock on the second press of the unlock button? Normal operation is one push unlocks driver, second push unlocks passenger.

when you go through the steps to recode your remote, after certain steps your car automatically locks and unlocks to "verify" you're doing it right.
