BHR Ignition...now wont start

Exclamation BHR Ignition...now wont start

I just installed my new BHR ignition kit and new plugs...

i removed the intake to make the install easier.

after the install it had a rough start, after two tries she finally started...
drove her around and idled great had no problems, misfires, etc... took her home and shut the car off but now it wont turn over...

i checked what i could given that my car is still hot to touch but im sure all my connections are snug. tried jumping the car but no good.

need help...

First question I have is: Did you remember to connect the ground wire on the harness to a good grounding location? If the kit's harness is not grounded it will produce symptoms you are describing.

Sounds like a poor ground or no ground at all.

Make sure that if you mounted that ground cable on a painted surface......you sand off the paint and leave a bare metal contact area for the ground cable.

Did you forget to plug the MAF back in..... dont ask how i know to do that.... also check your grounds... and check to make sure you didnt crush any wires...

this is what charles always want us to do.....CALL HIM OR CONTACT him through email or anyway to get in contact with him.
we can give you all possibilities about the symptoms, but the person who created it has more knowledge toward the kits.......you can look at this thread for possibilities...stilll try to contact him..

probably it's the grounding or the connection ...check it the route again

Again, the most immediate fix I can suggest is to ensure that you connected the ground wire per the installation instructions that are included with the kit. If you did that and are still experiencing problems please email Ray at charles@blackhaloracing.com and he can troubleshoot directly.

Anytime anyone has problems with any of BHR's products please contact us directly as we monitor phones and email much closer than the forums.

yes it's grounded. I grounded it near the Master break.

maf is plugged in. ill try to find another ground point.

^If the wire will reach, try the ground in the middle of the intake box and the battery.
If you can, snap a pic of the wire set up so we can take a look at how you plugged in your wire harness

Well if it dont work, he can always take it off and ask for a refund.

The problem with lies when people who dont know anything about the part, or the RX8 ignition jump in and try to help, which can make the problem worse...

I dont think there was any 'behind the scenes' fixing going on, rather.. Ray trying to help a customer out before he gets fed some wrong information which could do irreversibleq damage

I think the best idea is to let Charles help the guy since he knows everything about the kit. I highly doubt that the ignition kit is bad, the installer could have done something wrong.

Now that I have been able to read the story rather than hear about it via text messages from Flashwing;

1) Make sure all your intake couplers have been properly aligned and the clamps are properly torqued. If you have an AEM intake, make sure all your screens are properly installed.

8) The ground on the firewall near the brake master cylinder is the best one to use. We know this through experience.
9) Were you experiencing a power-loss BEFORE installing the BHR Ignition System? If so, you may have low compression or any of the other problems listed at the top of the installation instructions which our product will not "cure".
1. yes the intake couplers are aligned.
2. i dont have a torque wrench so im not sure... they're noce and snug
3. aside from the lack of space being the only problem, i dont think there is an isssue there.
4. no
5-6. yes i am sure i have the right connections and firing order.
***7. i did disconnect the battery but only after the first test drive (which was great, ROCK SOLID IDLE) when the car wouldn't start back up.
***8. Yes i used the one beside the Master Cyl.
9. no obvious powerloss...

***I used the the screw at the Master Cyl. to begin with but it turned out to be a bit dirty so i scuffed it up, and now it will finally start but only after a few tries (2 to be exact). But, since i disconnected the battery yes my fuel trims are probably adjusting...


after putting some miles on her i can start it in one shot but it cranks for a bit longer than before the install.

thanks for all the help guys! hopefully after i put some more miles on her things will settle down and return to normal.

the symtoms have returned.... sorta... I left my apt and it started witha prolonged start, then I went to my work place and stopped by for a few min...

to my dispair it took like 5 tries to turn over... and now my car is too hot to check and not to mention too dark outside to try anything...

so aside from getting new motor what would be the best solution...? I drove it on and off while the engine was still warm and it started in one try... then I let a few hours go by and then it happend again... the same symptoms that is..

well heres my case:

i bought my RX8 from a honda dealership.

its a 2005 with currently 68k miles

it comes with a 2 year motor and drive train coverage thru honda...

my only mods are Greddy SE exhaust, AFE short shifter, and currently the BHR ignition...

If i do pursue getting a newer engine will these mods hold me back or possibly be linked to causing a low compression motor in anyway?

lol i really dont want to remove them but if i have to...

The issue is that we are nearing 400 units shipped and installed and I have seen it ALL when it comes to matters of human error, both of my own making and those of our customers. That is why I coined the phrase "Gamma-testing".
i think the unit is solid..i have my friend intalling them, and when i compare it to my mazsport, i wish i have their kit.....

i hope we all can stop crapping the thread and let charles help this guy ......if anybody has a problem with soemone, please take it somewhere, not in the thread where people need help...

I just want to put in my two cents:

I have not used any BHR products as of yet. But I can tell you from my personal experience with vendors on here, that Ray has been very attentive to any questions i've presented, even though I have yet to purchase anything.

In contrast, I have the Esmeril Racing Coils, they took two months to come once I ordered them, and we had to hunt down their engineer just to get the instructions for installation (the third party vendor sent them without instructions.) When we ran into some trouble with the coils, no one would return our calls or emails. It was poor customer service, and the worst part is the fact that I was a paying customer.

I refuse to take a side or opinion on this little rant fest. All I know is that Ray has been helpful. What ever issues there are between the two of you, oh well, who cares, if you don't like the products fine, but on the other hand, it's rather immature to bring some one's old lady into this.
