stock intake port location?

Hey all,
I was checking out my stock intake and was wondering where the opening for the intake comes out at from under the front bumper. Its hard to tell but it looks like there are 2 intake ports or something that are on the passanger side front bumper almost right under the fog lights. If you guys know what Im talking about is this the ports for the intake or what are they for?If not where does the stock ports come out at?
Thx,Shark

Vfad.....

The duct goes thru the metal over the radiator, makes a quick right turn, then ends in a trumpet shape nozzle.

It doesn't go down the bumper, and nowhere near the foglights.

The reason Im asking this is because I read somewhere that you can make the in-let larger so to let in more air. This may not be true but I wanted to have a look at the in-let anyways but cant find it :o .

There's a thin plastic cover you can take off right underneath where the hood meets the front bumper... there you can see some of the rest of the intake tract. The oval inlet branches off down a nylon sock to the left for the "normal" intake run, and there's a vacuum operated flapper door that opens (VFAD) for high-RPM operation to let more air in on the other branch slightly to the right.

Three things about what you want to do- Mazda did quite a bit of tuning to the intake, so you're probably not going to do better than their SDAIS + VFAD setup across the entire RPM range. You might be able to help the top end, but could hurt the low end, or vice versa. The second thing is that oval opening in the steel front member is not going to be easy to enlarge, as you'll see. Lastly, if you're really serious about examining the setup, you can remove the front bumper cover in about 10-15 minutes if you're careful.
