Some problems after 1 year

Hi

Cars are always maintenance items. I want to share my problems to see if any others are experiencing the same.

During the first few months my AC compressor failed. Now, as of Saturday 9/4, the new one failed.

As others HAVE shared, my headlights are foggy and splotchy

The tires are horribly noisy and something is wrong with them. The dealer has checked alignment, balance and roadforce - all fine but they too cannot believe the sound.

now, these are the "problems"

Has anyone else experienced AC trouble not due to a rock hitting it as I already read about?

What about tires?

Mazda is working with me on this. They are buying me two new tires and they fixed the AC once. The headlights are an issue I have not mentioned yet.

I'm glad to hear Mazda is working with you, Rodster. To answer your question, I have not noticed any of these problems yet. My car has 21,000 miles on it and I've had it 13 months. Original tires look good, just passed inspection. I do have the new A/C amp on order because of the cycling issue.

Good luck and I hope they get you taken care of!

I'm at 13 months too, and 22,600 miles. I replaced my tires sicne spirited driving wears them out faster, but never had a noise issue with them. My AC also works well enough. Very minor cycling issue, not enough for me to bother about it. AC temp **** broke once. I also kinda have the headlight problem, but it's not really been anything I noticed much.

Your A/C compressor should not fail in under a year. I would ask for an investigation from Mazda as to whether it was a parts fault or an installation fault. New A/C compressors have excess oil in them for shipping. Maybe the dealer removed too much oil from the compressor, or not enough, causing the compressor to fail.

Regarding tires, remember these are sports-oriented tires, they will be a little noisier than a regular passenger car. Tire noise can be very subjective, it would be best if you could drive another RX-8 with the same tires to compare, maybe your dealer has a demo car you could go for a drive in. If the demo car is quieter on the SAME roads you drive on normally (road surface can make a big difference) then maybe you have a case for tire replacement.
Before you do that though, have you tried different tire pressures?

In my opinion, the A/C issue is a real issue. The tires....as I said these can be very subjective. Try your dealer out, they may be able to help.

Good luck.
