Looks good, but is it style over function?

He's only claiming 2-3hp....that'd be right for a 10% underdrive pulley. Looks trick, I reckon.

Looks very similar to the one's that Higgi produced for the Rx-7. I'll post a pic of my old Rx-7's engine bay if anyone if curious as to how it looks on the engine.

It was lighter on the Rx-7. I don't know how much the one weighs on the Rx-8, so I can't comment.

Damn, I miss my first gen Rx-7.

I don't really want to underdrive the alternator on a car that was a **** poor battery as it is.

Looks damn cool, though.

OK, I went ahead and bought it. My wife's limited me to the occasional $50 purchase for the car.... until we get the insurance check for her car. Then I'm allowed to go crazy.

Just looking at it, it's very nicely machined. Fits in the palm of my hand. I'll do a size/weight comparison this weekend. He's in Florida, so it was a really quick turn around. Not sure if I'm going to install, I'm still toying with the idea of using it as a paper weight at work. LOL

On a side note, he did send a few kitkat mini's with it. Guess he wanted to sweeten the deal... sorry, couldn't resist.

rotary shaped alternator pulley

weight: 107 grams -OR- 3.75 ounces
diameter: 2.5 (ish) inches

I say 2.5(ish) because I'm measuing out to the lip, not the surface where the belt would be making contact with the pulley. I'll guestimate that the contact surface diameter is 2 3/8.

**Edit***
Just ran outside the width of the OEM alternator pulley is right around 2.25 inches, lip to lip. Subtract the width of the belt (times 2) and that's the diameter of the contact surface.

So the rotary pulley is slightly larger. Hrmm, what effect would this have? Also, anyone know the weight of the stock alternator pulley? cortc?
