Remote Starter, help with warm-up ?
Just got my 2004 Titanium Grey RX8, Auto with sports package, what a fun car.
Anyway, with winter approaching (and that gets serious out here in Western Massachusetts) I was thinking of installing a remote starter, not because I am lazy or scared to get into a cold car, but to get a few minutes engine warm up before jumping in and driving off.
Anyone else done this yet ?

Nope...but it sounds like a good idea. Just get someone to install it right so you don't dork up your warranty.
"dork" - very technical term used by all mechanics at some point in their career to describe various objects, people, or actions. i.e., "I dorked up the installation" "He was such a dork to do that!" or "What a dorked up place to put an oil filter!" Yes, 'dork' is a very versitile word.

I did it last year. I have an automatic. Some installers won't install it on a manual. I went to a local alarm installer (Long Island) cost me around $225. I have had my car into Mazda service since install, and they have not said boo. No problems.
Good luck.
Good luck.

I have it installed on my manual, and if you have a good system, the car has a nuetral wire from the tranny which can be used to disable remote start if the car is not in neutral. I am using a compustar system. Oh... and when the mazda tech saw it, he said cool and called the rest of the guys over... I like my dealer.

i also have it installed on my 6 speed. i have the clifford rsx 3.5. buddy of mine does installs and did the clutch override for me. i think it would help in the winter due to the fact you could leave your heater on when you start it. warms up the engine and the cabin!
