AT Shift ****

Any of you guys know where i can find a new shift **** for my AT. I saw this one owner that changed the apperance to almost look like the one of the MT's. Also any possibilities of making if like a short shifter..just not as long as the OEM. Thanks!

Thanx everyone for helping me out..ill look at a couple of pics and see what i like. I just wished since they made it so short looking on the MT that they would have done something different with the AT.

One more quick ?...Is it dificult 2 remove the OEM shift cover..im seriously thinking of buying another boot...cutting the shift a little bit smaller like in ther first post and changing shift..i dont want 2 pose as if my car was an MT i just want 2 go for a little bit of a different look.

i did this as one of my first 'mods'

it's not too difficult to do, just a lil' tricky - it's really easy to pop out the stuff though it seems a lil' fragile at times - just make sure you have a flat head when your poppin' stuff out - i used a generic (sp) momo shift boot that i cut some slits around it to fit...

you could also go the extra mile and file down the actual shifter to make it seem shorter like an MT - i personally didn't do it because that's just going above and beyond

Momo is universal with there fit they use rubber allan key grommets to hold there ***** in place I think. As for cutting it you are only doing that because the AT shaft sticks out so far so it is up to you how low you want to cut it. I would cut it an inch put the **** on see how you like it. If it is still to tall cut another half inch and keep doing it until you like it

Dremel is the easiest way to do it but if you wanna go low tech use a Hack Saw

After cutting it with a dremel or a hacksaw will the momo still screw in perfectly or will i have 2 adjust anything? Im guessing i should not have any problems.

Like I said prior you will not have any problems as the Momo Shift **** is universal and does not screw into your threads on your stock shaft

haha - guessed i missed the Q n' A - but hitman didn't! haha

GL with the install - i had the most difficulty cutting the slits around the boot so the clips would still go thru and clip onto the rest of the panel.

So will the AT Rx8 leather shift **** or the Autoexe shift **** fit if you trim the shaft? I don't think these are universal fit. If so, how would you trim the shaft so the **** will still fit if the **** isn't universal? Thanks.
