Turbo 8 Application Curiosities

OK... first I would like to say I have absolutely no business being in the Major Horsepower Upgrades area... I dont even own an 8 yet. With that said, there are some areas which I would like to see adressed perhaps in a sticky...here's what comes to mind.

Fuel Delivery: What modifications are required/provided with turbo kits(i.e. Greddy) to bolster fuel delivery during boost. My HRC kit on my 420, for example, supplied an aftermarket FPR and secondary in-line 255lph fuel pump.

Air/Fuel: What modifications and/or piggy backs are required to fool the ECU? On the Eclipse, we had to install a voltage clamp device between my MAP Sensor and ECU in order to fool the ECU to go into WOT fuel delivery during boosted operation, while keeping it from seeing voltages outside of it's operating range.

Tolerances: Unfortunely, somebodies going to have to break some stuff to get an idea for real world operating ranges, but I'm curious as to what the factory motor can handle in terms of boost, and what the factory drive train can handle in terms of HP/Torque.

The Greddy Problem: It seems like people are having a tunning issue with the Greddy system. How is it being resolved?

I'm sure there's a million more questions, and these are probably already answered here to some extent, but just a suggestion if somebody wants to complile the info.

we didn't even get around to tuning the small ports. the motor is in my garage again just waiting on the o-rings for the big port job...that should probably be all the motor work we're doing for a while. snoochie's got the canzoomer, so after the motor is broken in and dyno'd with the big porting, we'll put that on and tune it...see what it can do then.

i think we should be able to get 60-70 rwhp increase with the porting, ecu and cat removal...not too shabby. we'll probably go turbo one of these days too.

When you say big ports, what are you planning? I don't think I've seen a reference to this on the other thread so I'd like to have some idea of what you have in mind. I take it you plan to replace the exhaust sleeves/headers with some new design as well?

what i'm planning on for the mecca-porting is going right throught he water jackets on 2 sides of the port and getting it welded back up.. i can imagine why people would be hesitant to do this--who knows if the weld will hold under the exhaust heat?

so even though the labor is free, i'm not gonna give a warranty on that. whoever chooses to go that route will go into it knowing they're being a guinea pig. but the worst that would happen is the motor would eat coolant and there's $800 for a new pair of irons...not the end of the world.

The irons are only 800 bucks?

I didnt realize that.

Have you worked on any of the 2k5 engines? I've heard a little something about the irons and possibly even the rotors being cast from a different blend of materials.. Wanted to know if there was any truth to tha.
