I agree. This turbo kit will only give your car 40-45 whp. I'm sure most of you will only buy this kit for the front mount and blow off valve anyways...

Where are you getting this figure from ? If they are claiming 300 hp at the flywheel that is still 62 more hp on the 238 hp that Mazda is claiming (which I think is still optimistic). Many of the articles that I have read on the turbo kit claim/show about 250-260 whp. In which case you are looking at about a 70-80 whp gain as most RX-8 have dynoed in the 170-180 whp range (with a few 190 whp freaks).

Deca had to know he was going to get flamed with that comment, I think he was doing it for a reaction.

In any case no one can really predict what will happen without testing the kit for a good 6 months of use anyway.

I was just making a wild prediction. My friend used to own many turboed rotories in Japan, and he kept saying they broke on him. He couldn't even fix some, he had to junk them... When the turbo rotary FD3S came out they had fewer problems, like overheating and such. But reputable shops such as Pineapple racing have reviewed the renesis and concluded it is more than forced induction worthy. We shall all find out soon once this kit is released.

You guys didn't have to attack my car just cause of my comment. ********.

You can make any comment you like, I wouldn't dis your car, I don't really like the look of that care most of the time anyway, except for in white and plain looking. Although, I do have a certain amount of respect for it's speed, as should everyone who is into the car scene. As should anyone who can see a piece of machinery that can make power, any piece of machinery.

I don't agree with the name calling or the bashing of your car, that is one thing that I can not deal with on the forum sometimes. But I do agree that the engine may have much potential to blow if too much is forced into the engine.

We honor your opinion, but when someone makes blatant remarks and blindly bashes the car that our forum is dedicated to, you should expect it to ruffle a few feathers. Evo's as well as all cars have their weaknesses but exploitation will hamper productivity.

i know of way more DSM/Mitsu motors gernaded then rotaries. hey, at least no 8 owner as ever sucked his own hand into a turbo.

If you are talking about all rotories in general you are correct. But if you are talking about turbo/sequential-turbo rotaries you are mistaken. Plus a stock evo is running 18.5 PSI, whilst the last turbo rotary only ran 9 PSI stock. This greddy turbo kit for the 8 is only 7PSIw/front mount. I know about combustion so please don't respond with horsepower figures.

I'd be up tight too after the way you guys treated him, when someone is wrong about something you educate, if a 6 year old says 5*2 is twelve you don't flame him.

Yeah but if the 6 year old says "5 * 2 is 12, and you're all dumber than I am".. personally I'd smack him on the nose with a newspaper and say "bad.. bad doggy!"

Maybe that's just me

LOL! What are you? 12? FYI the 3rd Gen RX-7 boosted 10psi, NOT 9.
And whats with this DSM is better than rotary crap? I have many friends with DSMs here in Charlotte. They have nice 1st and 2nd gens but they are not without their problems. My buddies Galant VR-4 has a rebuilt engine that phantom knocks like a ****, a couple of 2nd gen Crankwalkers and one or two that have bad trannies. Not to mention all of them are experiencing some kind of valve/valve seal problem as well. I'm not saying rotaries are more reliable than any DSM, but to dismiss the rotary as troublesome is just plain ignorant.

Comparing boost on different motors with different turbos is dumb.

Rotary and DSM owner <--

I was merely discussing this greddy turbo kit for the RX8. All you dumbasses had to involve my car for I dunno what reason, other than to attack me. I never said dsms are better than rotaries. I was wrong the 3rd gen RX7 has 10 psi, not 9 psi. DSMs and rotaries both have their problems, but I thought this thread is about turbocharging the RX8?

If anyone is uptight it seems like it is you guys. You don't want to even be reminded that turbocharging your cars may lead to reliability issues especially because it wasn't designed to be turboed. I guess I can't blame you guys for your insecurities, especially since your cars only run high 14s in the quarter mile. This turbo kit seems to be your last hopes to "hang" with your car's looks.

When you say things like "All your cars are going to blow" you should know that some of us would react this way. I don't know anyone in this forum who has insecurities about their 8 not being that fast. When I bought this car I already knew that its not a drag car, I just wanted the car period. I just couldn't wait to modify it like all my previous cars. Heck even if I had a corolla I'd turbo it too.

You dont have to remind us about reliabilty issues, some of us actually do own other cars that can blow your door. So why dont you just stop acting like you weren't intending on dissing us.

Moderators: It stinks of junior high in here. Please delete post #217-on or simply close this thread. I believe everything that had to be said has already been said in this thread...

If the shoe fits... please take your acne and squeaky voices elsewhere!

Thanks!

me too. I wonder how the DSC is going to act with the new found power. I remember the prelude type SHs would actually restrict output after about 250 horsepower.
