Aw, you beat me to it. I got this info yesterday but was too busy to post it. I just got out of a meeting and was about to do it and then saw your post. Good find.

Do these units also have FM/AM tuning capabilities? I'd hate to not be able to tune in the local sports.

I assume that current owner would have to swap out the current head units to install this new option . . . since there is no current way to install one. Someone tell me that I am wrong and there will be a cure for those of us who have already purchased.

True that RAM! Hopefully the new system will hookup with an existing RX-8 system. If not, I'll be installiing the XM Commander.

I have a sirius commander in my car running off of an FM modulator. I would only upgrade to a factory unit if it ran all info through the factory display and had CD quality sound. I can tell the sound is not as good through the FM modulator. I did the whole thing for 100 bucks though, and I doubt the factory will be near that cheap.

Factory will def. not be cheap but it will display all the information and I'd imagine you wont have to FM modulate which is huge for sound qualilty.

I doubt it but It would be nice if it were an add on unit like the Cassette player so that I can keep my in-dash changer, but something tells me that isn't going to be possible.

Anyway Sirius is a good thing I just wish I hadn't put $400 to the CD changer when I bought the car.

I have the Sirius Audiovox PnP2. I have the ant. on the trunk lid and the wires running thru the trunk into the cabin via center drop down storage center. I ran the wires under the center console silver molding. The unit sits in where the 2 cup holders are. The FM modulater plugs into the outlet in the console. When the dash unit comes out, I will look in to swapping the existing radio out and eliminating the PnP. Sirius is a great product and I highly recomend it over XM based on better content. There is a conference call on 2/12 at 9:30 AM re: a partnership with Echostar and Radio Shack. This will be big.

On our 2004 Miatas and 3's, the stereo has a button labeled SAT so I assume that we just install a tuner and antenna but I have not seen one done yet. I'll see what I can dig up.

I'll bet money the Sirius option will not be available for the 2004 RX-8, the timing ("summer 2004") suggests it will be a new option for 2005.
