Head Unit problem

I think I f***** up. I believe that I may have hulled out the faceplate because I've tried everything I can think of and can't get the power back to it.

My display is all black and I don't have power to the face of the radio at all. My guess is that when pulling the unit out to put in the JDM nav piece I damaged a connection between the faceplate and the MP3 unit. All the connections behind the unit appear ok which lead me to believe its the face plate -- any experience or advice fellas.

like nycgps said, put it back together as it was, see if it works, if so, try again. If not, then take it back and hope they replace it for free.

I'm pretty sure I've heard of somebody that somehow messed up the connection between the faceplate and the HU.

The display was black and they couldn't use the HU controls but they could still use the steering wheel controls.

I think they took the face off of the HU and straightened the connector, I don't really remember and I can't find the thread. But this might be the answer to your problem.

Yea I checked the fuses under the hood and in the cabin--its looking more and more like the faceplate is shot...damn I'm gonna try one more time pulling it out and re-attaching and all that. Then I guess its off to the WTB board.

Do your vent controls and A/C still work? I had installed an iPod adapter and it caused the same problem you have, plus the aformentioned malfunction. I took the iPod adapter off, took the car back to the dealer and they had to replace the HU under warrenty. Took them quite sometime to solve the problem too.
Good luck........

Today when I started my car only the radio controls will work, and the CD player functions won't even work. I have the ipod adaptor installed but its been in there since May and this is the first time its ever done this.

Has any one elese ran into this problem? If not I'm taking the adaptor out tomorrow and taking the car to Mazda.
