My first non-standard mod

New to site, can finally post outside of the newbie section. Not new to cars, or basic electronics. This mod may turn in to a DIY if enough interest is aroused. So, Power is the mod in question. not the normal ever asked HP Power, but electrical power. This mod started as a normal batt relocation for my SOHN adapter reservoir. But the batt is not going to the trunk as planed, but rather in the front bumper. The new batt is a 12 model AGM Power sports type. A whopping 175CCA. Now this batt will not be used to start the car, but rather just power the electronics and act as a alternator buffer. So what will start the car? 6x 2.5V 700F capacitors mounted in series under the rear deck in the trunk. Now 2.5x6=15V and 700F(yes FARAD, not uf, not pf, but F) ran in series gives me a reduced total of 116.67F. Now these are wired directly to the starter, through 0 Gauge double insulated military spec wire. the install should be complete in about 2 weeks(waiting on a few last parts) Recharge will have three options, new solenoid mounted up front, ran from batt to starter. will allow me to recharge when car starts. option 2, 12v solar panel mounted on rear deck. it's a 2.5 watt unit and will more or less keep them topped off and will recharge them surprisingly faster then a batt would charge. and option 3 will be a manual plug in LiPo pack I've built using two 7.4 2200 30C units from my RC car days. Now starting will be a bitt different. Step 1, put key in and turn to normal position. step two, open ashtray/cig lighter door. inside will be hidden a voltage gauge(capacitors) a 3 way momentary switch(charging options) and a push to start button. step 3 push to start. Then if voltage is low, select a charging option. I could start the car normally with key, but I needed the gauge, and switch anyway and had the room for the push to start button . Starting should be well with this hybrid setup, all the electronics will receive there 12V during starting from the powersports batt(mounted hidden in front bumper). No dip in voltage due to draw of starter. 175cca batt should be fine for the stock demand of the car, including the draw from the EPS. So opinions welcome, questions welcome, and updates coming.

yes I am going to use a balancing circuit.
yes I am going to regulate the recharge.

It sounds like a whole lot of trouble for nothing. I'm not really good with the numbers, but Harlan has run a cap pack for a while instead of a battary. I use a weapon R catch can as my sohn tank. i had a radiator shop put a filler cap on it. I use it for catch can and sohn tank at the same time. It holds almost 2 quarts and under hard daily driving with the omp increased by 30% it still lasts 1500+ miles.

On the other side of the note it sounds really cool overall if you can make it work good. So go for it if you just want it. I really like the Idea of the solar pannel. I've never thought of it, but that might be a good option for me since I don't drive my car a whole lot. It might even look good if I can find a thin one and inlay it into the rear spoiler.

I've seen some diy'ers do it with 250F caps, and they don't run a battery. I chose the hybrid setup mainly because we all know a older rotary does not always start first try. I surprisingly don't have much $ in this. Since my regular batt was low on cca's and had to be replaced anyway.

So does it work?

....and how does it cope with a 'long crank' situation?

Why is the battery 'hidden'?

Why move it forward from its present position?

Using Maxwell caps?

There is no need for any of this, a good battery and the 09+ starter is all you need for instant starts.
