aftermarket to stock head unit

I just bought my new 8 yesterday and it has an aftermarket head unit. I'd like to put it back to stock. Is that possible? Restrictively expensive?

lol. Really? You're asking us if it's possible to put a radio....designed for the car... into the car?

Snap a pic of your set up and offer to trade someone for an OEM unit. You could probably pull it off for the cost of shipping both units.

Yeah, I love sarcasm thrown at me when I ask a question.

I ask because I don't really know what I'd need and if it needed anything done to the wiring or anything when they installed the aftermarket one to make it all work. Plus, I think the install kit (possibly Metra) they used made the display that in stock form shows the radio station say something else instead. Didn't know how to get that back to normal. Also I didn't know if there was a way to check if they changed the speakers without pulling them apart. I don't remember if it was the rx8 that has an issue with a stock radio and aftermarket speakers.

So you see? Valid question.

Anyways I've decided to take the Pioneer out of there and switch to a DVD screen receiver. It's there any under $400 anyone would suggest? I don't want nav as the car already had it.

Ashley, anyone know if I can buy just the Metra dash piece? I don't need all the electrics that come with the $150 kit. I just need the double din dash.
