Red face

Since you asked so nicely here are some preliminary pictures of the lamps on the car.

Why only one side you ask? I experienced some MAJOR setbacks on this project. It turns out that spraying a layer of acrylic paint sealant is not the way to go. I thought it would waterproof it and protect the paint from fogging. I'm still not sure why but the sealant cleaved all three layers of paint including clearcoat and it started to slough off like an oil slick in a big mess to my complete horror. Maybe I didn't let the coat dry enough before doing this.

What you're seeing is actually a complete redo from my original post. I was able to repaint on an accelerated schedule because I didn't have to experiment as much. The other side is still drying. These actually came out a little darker than before hiding the strakes in the light more. It looked neat though with the darker tint on the black paint. I understand why people are smoking their lenses now. I'll probably post completed pics this weekend.

i love the stock lamps, but the red does look good, better than blacked out or smoked out cause it doesnt hide the details inside the lamp.

As for your reversing problem, I would disable the reverse lights in the tail lamps and follow the DIY to make your own rear fog (the one that goes in the 'rotor' in the back bumper) but use a clear/white lense, and wire it up to go on with the reverse lights.

This is a really good idea. I think I'm going to do it next.

Think I'll have to pass on that one...I did screw up on my own once already...think you'd probably be able to do a better job than I can.
Actually, someone like TrueMagellen would probably be able to make it flawless using the wet sanding...

Could try taping off a stripe from the brake circle light between the stakes on the lenses. This would allow the reverse to show through and keep the strakes and LED sides showing.

Anyone up for it?.....

If anyone is interested in doing this, there is a set of lights on ebay right now, ending soon......right now they sit at $45, with no bids!

Would buy them myself, but I already got a spare set!
