Body Graphics and Art

I'm not sure if I am posting this in the right place but since I am not selling anything yet I felt better posting it here.

I work out of my home as I am semi-retired doing computer art and design. I recently purchased my RX 8 and am making custom vinyl body graphics for it. I should have these done and pictures available in a few days. The vinyl lasts for 5-8 years and is removable without damaging the paint. I am interested in whether there might be other RX8 owners who would like custom graphics for their car. [mod edit - pricing information removed per forum advertising rules] I would be willing to do the design work before hand and make it available for online preview. There would be no charge for design unless a purchase of the graphics took place. I can do design from existing art, photographs etc. I can also create totally original art if you have an idea of your own. I can not reproduce existing art or graphics as that violates copy right law. I would like to hear some responses as to interest in this.

You'd probably have better luck in a Civic forum. I think most 8 owners graduated the rice stage. Try www.clubsi.com

Most of us aren't into the graphic on the car thing, but you might find a couple of people interested. You should post a thread in the For Sale/Parts forum.

Many people are getting paid to have a logo and parts on their car.

I really wasn't refering to advertisement and such. I was speaking of more subtle graphics that personalize the car. As for it being a rice thing that is rediculous. Grapics have been applied to cars of all kinds even long before Japan made cars. Maybe graphics aren't for everyone. The idea of using graphics came to me after seing one of the RX 8s attending the "Tail of the Dragon" group this year. I thought it looked nice and interesting enough the one with the graphics was photographed by a couple of magazines. The nice thing about vinyl is it comes off. When I was into this kind of thing 30 years ago we had to air brush everything or hand paint it. Pin stripping was often hand painted. I am not really interested in doing Honda Civics or other cars and I am not looking to make a profit. It was just something I thought might be intersting to some.

Oops, sorry, I deleted my post because I realized it might sound a little insulting. Show us what your car looks like after you're done. I'd be interested to see what you're talking about.

I can't believe anyone would screw-up a perfectly good 8 with graphics. Anyone doing so should have their RX-8 taken away from them by Mazda. Graphics only cheapen the car. What next? LEDS??

Some may argue that a car is a work of art, I agree to a certain extent, but not to the point of using it as a canvas........

LOL....aww...nobody is sponsoring me! My graphics are a direct by-product of home-grown psychosis. :D

HOWARD.....I'll PM you later. I have some projects coming up and am always glad to help a struggling entrepreneur.

What kind of equipment do you have? How wide? Can you get swirl gold foil vinyl?

This from someone with big dinosaur graphics on the side of his 8 -- I think I detect a hint of sarcasm here.

I suspect the red Mazda Australia turbocharged concept car with the MS kit is painted, but the white stripes along the bottom with the "RX-8" lettering looks pretty good...its not what I usually think of as "graphics" but it could probably be done that way.

vinyls are an inexpensive way to give yourself a custom paint look without the custom paint price (tens of thousands). some are silly (like Razz's), and some are dorky (like NINJAS!!! and OBSCURE ANIME CHARACTERS!!!), but i think i pretty much like everything but the ugliest stuff, like lightning bolts or giant two tone jobs (half the car covered in vinyl).

I did graphics on my current car. Nothing crazy really, just soemthing to spicer 'er up a bit. I'll be doing something similar when I get an 8.

Things like that are kind of needed when you've got sponsors to please. And when you're representing companies at either a show or a race....

If I just drove cars to get from point A to B I wouldn't do anything like that. And I can totally understand why people wouldn't want to.

Vinyl = removable.
