Down on power?

I'll start by saying that adding the TurboXS catback with the added race pipe makes the RX-8 sound AMAZING!

That out of the way.. Before I did this I had a rough idle, engine surging, trouble starting, and a random misfire engine code. After putting the exhaust on, I decided to change the spark plugs... for the first time in 70k miles.. needless to say the old ones were toast and while the car now seems to run much better, I just feel like I should feel more power?

I have an AEM intake, full catless TurboXS exhaust system, aluminum flywheel, and brand new spark plugs.. Why does it still feel so down on power? I'm wondering if it's a matter of tuning? I haven't tuned my car at all since all the upgrades.. Also I still have the random misfire code.. Not sure what it could be. Plug wires?

That being said.. will somebody please explain a couple things? I have heard of an L flash, M flash, K flash etc, and the COBB.

-Where can I go to get one of the "letter" flashes?
-What do they do to help?
-Is it expensive?
-Would I gain more from a tune than say, if my car was stock?

The L,M,K etc. flashes are more sophistocated tunes from the factory. The latest version can be obtained at any mazda dealer (at no charge?) because they sent the early 04's out tuned terribly. You need to replace the coils and the wires aswell, coils generally last 30k miles. Replace those and report back.

I see.. Okay then I'll go to the dealer and try and get it flashed I suppose. It's an '06 so there's no telling what flash it has on it. The earliest i can replace the wires is on the 20th, so I'll report back then. Thanks for the info

If its an 06 it already has the most up to date factory tune. And make sure to do the coils along with the wires.

yes, and yes.
I'm have not seen that specific igniton set up, but if yor looking at spending around $500 then you should look in to the BHR ignition kit. Nothing but good reviews from their product, and the setup will out last the life of your car.
