Fanman,
Any recommendations for someone wanting more power? Which mods and in what order? I've now got RB springs, sways and endlinks, and just got a typhoon II (b/c it was a great price).
Want to learn from other's mistake$$.

Want to learn from other's mistake$$.
1) I got the Rotary Extreme short ram, which was similar to the K&N unit, but later on took it out when I got the turbo kit. Wish I didn't get it, but at the time that was what was around (along with the K&N gen 1 but that was universally despised).
2) Next I got RB REV8 cat back exhaust. Loved the sound of it, but later sold it when I got the JIC Titanium. Looking back I should have just kept the RB unit. Sound is better, tips are better looking, and I shoudn't have spent $1300 on the JIC.
3) Got SR Motorsports pullies for $460. Only pully set around at the time. Dynoed it & made jacksh**. Wouldn't get pullies again, or if I did maybe the UR or Agency power. That way if they proved to do nothing, at least i would have only pissed away $250, instead of $450.
4) Got the SR Motorsports Hi-Flow cat (with additional resonator), which was a really good piece for me. Functioned perfectly fine for me when I was NA. When I put the turbo on, I had a lot of random backfire. Was told that it was because of the hi-flow cat, so I pulled it off, put the stock cat back on, and sold the unit. Should have kept it, as the problem wasn;t the hi-flow cat, it was the crappy Greddy E Manage & map. Later on I got the RP Supercat unit, which is fine now.
5) Got a Canzoomer unit, with cables & software from a poster on the board, but lost a race to a V8 Thunderbird the next night, wound up ordering the Greddy Turbo kit the next day. Looking back I should have kept the CZ & put it in my car & been done with it. See below.
5) Got the Greddy Turbo. Biggest mistake of my life. Thought it was "relatively" bolt on. Was literally one of the first 5 people on this board who got this kit put on my car. Have spent literally thousands of dollars to not only increase the hp on it, but moreso make it run right. Kit came incomplete from Greddy, and defective. I'll cover that in another thread on "Why Greddy Blows." there are going to be several much better alternatives coming out. Mine works now, but only with several thousands of dollars in mods. I would recommend you look at the upcoming PTP, Mazsport, Pettit Racing, Axialflow units.
6) Got the Greddy B Spec II boost controller & Greddy Type S BOV. Boost controller was a pain in the *** to set, and not very sensitive. Allowed my car at times when it was colder temperatures to overboost. Pulled that stuff off & replaced it with HKS EVC & HKS BOV. Lightyears better. Better control, and easier to set. Thought I was getting a good deal as Greddy is less expensive than other manufacturers, got junk.
Other things :
1) Got 19" rims. If I had to do it over again i would get 18" rims. Too harsh on California freeways, and 18" chrome rims are just as blingy as 19."
Overall, if I had to do it over again I would have
1. Got a real intake ala RB REVi w/Ram Air Duct or AEM
2. Got RB Cat back Exhaust (more for great sound, than hp gain)
3. Got either the SR Motorsports (with additional resonator) or RP Supercat hi flow cat
4. Kept my Canzoomer & tuned it to my car
5. Not bought rims (had 18"stockers in chrome, just would have kept them)
6. Shot myself before I got the Greddy turbo kit
7. Probably if I had wanted the extra hp just went & did the 55 hp Zex wet system like Charles R. Hill & Addictive have & shown to work with minimal problems.
8. Still got the Axialflow shortshifter because it is a great unit.
I would ahve had around 240 whp setup with minimal trouble, and spent thousands, & thousands of $ less. I have almost 300 whp now, but spent some much more time & anguish on this project.

never give up
Greddy pulleys as I formentioned are just for bling bling. Two of them and of course the blueish colour that we like is gone in a matter of time due to the heat, so you pay 135 for two pulleys that don't do jack and lose their only attribute that is fascinating(colour) in a week. No, I don't recommend them in any way.
EDIT: There is no web link for R-XPERT Pulley Set.

That ebay Greddy/Trust set looks a little shady........Description says it only replaces the alternator and water pump. The picture is of 3 pullies. I am pretty sure that in Japan Greddy and Trust are the same company or one is a sister company or something like that. Their pullies are the same size as the stock ones so their underdrive will be 0%. They are just lighter and have a magical blue coating.

thanks, I didnt notice that part in the auction that stated only two pulleys. ebay has been deleted.
added 0% to gredy
I am also thiunking that gredy and the trust pulleys are the same. I just didnt know it the TRUST I have up there is the same TRUST as gredy's TRUST. ( TRUST is the main company in Japan, Gredy is TRUST's american sister.)

Intended for high rpm racing and only available through the Mazdaspeed Motorsport racer program for around $350. They are lighter maybe 1 or 2 lbs less (OE are steel) plus the weight of the A/C drive pulley that was eliminated (entire engine bay A/C system with pulleys, belt, hoses, condensor, etc. is 18 lbs).
Mazdaspeed claims 10 hp and frankly I'm inclined to believe it, but I have no dyno proof, just an overall seat of the pants.

technically yes. like a lighter flywheel you lose spinning mass, makinging it harder to take off.... but in reality no, it really just is not enough to make it hard to drive. i doubt it would be enough to even notice. (the take off, reving i am sure you do notice)

n00b questions.
If I get the Unorthodox pulleys;
A) Do I need a different size belt? If yes, Do they provide a belt with the set?
B) Where would I get replacements for the new size belt when the time comes?

Looks like SR and Agency Power are the only ones that come with new belts...am I to assume that you can use the OEM belts with the other pulleys, or will you have to go out and find new belts for each of these kits?

due to the reduction UR and AP do require smaller belts. they DO give you the part number though so you can go to any parts store and pick it up (UR)
AP comes with a new belt already. ( I belive)

yes, it is electronic power steering. you turn the wheel one direction, and within mimiseconds, the electric motor helps you turn in that direction.

Hi guys i got the SR pulley kit and other than looking bling (not what i got them for) they did little els all other than make my Engine management light come on and blink.......can any help don’t know who to get it off, Mazda Uk seem puzzled to, any ideas?
