midpipe/warrenty question

Im thinking about getting a midpipe, but wanted some more information on it. I understand that taking off the cat is illegal and voids the warrenty. I was wondering if you put the cat back on before you have the car looked at, would the mechanic know that the cat was off?

No, not physically. But it may/will cause you to trip your Check Engine Light, which the mechanic will pull up as your cat wasn't working or O2 sensor was broken.

I've had my cat off for a few months now and I've also had to go back to a few different dealerships in the area to have my car serviced. They all noticed that my cat was off (b/c of the check engine light that is sometimes on, sometimes off) but they still did the required work.

I guess in theory the check engine light would go off on its own if you put the cat back on... I've never actually done it so I'm not 100% sure.

I have an emergency question and this looked like the right thread, but anyway I have to have four ignition coils replaced and I dropped it off to the dealership. The dealership called me back and said that my warranty was voided cuz of not having a cat....blah blah cutting to the chase what exactly does the coils going out and having a midpipe being on the car, is there any relationship between the too???? PLZ HELP QUICK GUYS...this could end up costing me 430 dollars plus Muthafuckkkin taxes....

Exactly why you should have put your cat back on before you took it in, which I understand is a 20 minute job.

pretty sure the coils being "burnt out" has nothing to do with you having your cat removed.they just wanna void your warranty because that way they can get you to pay for it which means they get more money

a dealership will point fingers at anything in attempt too turn "blame" into "gimme your money"

coils cost 30 bucks each, and install takes 10 minutes. You need 4 coils that's 120 bucks, saves you 300 dollar. That 300 would have payed some ******* idiot for a retard mechanic's time in installing your coil in which inevitably the mechanic would've probably fucked up anyway because you own a car that's above his grade level.

No the two are not related, how the hell is the intensity of a spark effected by an emissions piece?

You know I'm a little tipsy, but if I was at the dealership when that idiot guy told you that bs, I would've kicked his *** straight up.

A dealership is where idiots screw over idiots. The best step too not becoming an idiot is to not entering a dealership...
