K&N Typhoon is amazing

The intake is very nice and very loud (I scared like 5 people today) And once you hit 5000 rpms and up u feel the gain. Maybe its me but after I put this intake in it revs so much faster. I basically get ready to shift as soon as I step on the gas! Also on a side note on a half a tank I already have 148 miles on a little less than half a tank so my mpg increase by one or 2 so maybe now I have 22 mpgs. ITS funny my mom will flip if she finds out that i did anything to my car so when i come home i basically cost and don't even touch the gas because low rpms in first gear u cant hear it., But after you hit 2nd gear even at 1000 rpms you can hear the monster intake. a couple of people mistaken my car for an exotic because of the sound.LOL

I just don't see how that gives you a good butt-dyno. Does anyone else who has a Typhoon agree with the "noticable" power increase. I heard from others here it doesn't make much diffeerence and is a waste of money.

i feel your pain man...i pay for the damn car, but I'm still under the "no modding" regime.

sucks that you have to take it off, why not just not get on it when she's around? or get CZ stage 1 :D

i hear ya

Yeah tell me about it, MY mom wont notice but my cousin found the order I printed out and told my mom. So my mom said as soon as get to Fl u will open your hood and I want to see the stock intake! She said if she doesn't she will go out buy me an old civic and drive the 8 back home to NJ. I own half of the car she owns the rest.

Oh you go to school at the university of central Fl. How is that school? I am a little depressed I got into 3 schools that I applied for. The first one was The art institute of Fort Lauderdale, Full Sail In Orlando, And the university of arts (the best art school in the country) But I picked the art institute of fort Lauderdale. I made a bad decision the school is OK but I would have liked full sail better.

Oh one more thing will get carzoomers stage 1 soon. Also good luck with the car.

I'll vouch that the stock intake is a huge K&N filter. Gee, you must have lost the stock cover, too bad :-)

Eclps,

I am hearing not to get the cz I with the K&N until further notice. They beleive it has to do with disturbance in the airflow. I wish more car mods for the 8 would be tested as a system with say intake chip and exhaust. Go to the CZ stickey on this page.

yea, youre right. should have mentioned that.

BTW: i love UCF, originally came here for the IT program, but now I'm majoring in finance and economics. i've heard alot of great things about full sail though. depending on what kind of art it is youre doing, FL is becoming a new hot spot.

I was in the IT program at UCF. What made you change? I finnished my minor in business because that was my original major at UF. There was a finance teacher I had and he was really good. Think his name was Dr. Ramenlal. Something like that. Good luck!

eclps0: where in west Davie do you live? I'm off of Sheridan and Dykes. I'd like to hear it. RX8 on 19s said he could definitely feel a difference and with that and the Greddy mid pipe being his only mods he was able to take a 350Z by a car length! At first I didn't think the intakes would be much benifit and I don't know if I can live with the sound but if everything turns out O.K. with the airflow issue it might be worthwhile.

I plan to go into venture capitalism, don't like the idea of *working* in the sense of a network administrator or something.

Heres a link to the K&N page which talks about the intake
description

Heres the dyno chart where the claim to gain 10 hp:
(note: I wonder why it only says 159 hp? Does that have to do something with the gear they were in? I forget which gear is 1:1, i though it was 4th...hmm)
dyno

And heres a link to a page where they have the intake for sale...not bad $169!!!! BTW, they also have alot of other cool rx-8 stuff to check out. Some good deals on body kits and exhausts.
pricing

I am not a vendor for any of the companies listed above, I just wanted to inform you all about this product.

I'd have to agree. The RX-8 is 3,000 lbs. Trust me, a 5-8hp gain will not be felt... the car is too heavy.
