That's cool but the fact that you have to remove your entire front bumper in order to clean the K&N filter doesn't appeal to me.
Now I know some people will say that it's a piece of cake to remove the bumper, takes five minutes, blabla... but this still bothers me. Removing a bumper is usually NOT that easy... I did it on other cars and it was never fun.

Id imagine you can take the filter off without removing bumper. Just reach up in the grill.

They said that they've changed the design of that intake. This one is a prototype.

Check out their website. They've added some new mazdaspeed look-alike parts, like th e front and the adj wing, as well as a cf hood.

A longer tube doesn't give you hp.
A cold air intake increases hp by lowering the air temperature that flows into the engine. Lower temps = more power as a rule of thumb.
However, design on the intake is important, as you want to optimize flow, so a design with fewer or smooth turns is usually better.
Hope this helps.
Gus.

FYI same concept of flow is the usual rule of thumb for exhaust. The fewer, or the less extreme, turns are in the exhaust pipe, the better the performance. Thats why mendrel bent pipes are the best option...

edit: depending on engine design, true duals are optimal.

not intirely true...the whole purpose of the cold air intake (longer tube) is to grab colder air from a different place other than the hotter air the engine produces..."dyno proven (well not on the 8 yet") a longer tube does grab more colder air opposed to the short ram where it grabs hotter air from the engine bay..but if the tube is not designed correctly, like you said..the longer tube is useless...

Maybe you misunderstood me... The length of the tube itself is not the reason for the hp increase, but the colder air is. All I was saying is that the CAI works by getting air at a lower temp...
I basically said what you said in a different way.
It just seemed that people had the misconception that the length itself was the major factor...
Having a choice between CAI and short ram, I would lean torwards a CAI. However at this time I would wait and to see all the different designs that will pop up for the 8 before I got anything...
just my .02 cents.
Gus.
