just wondering if there are any dyno's floating around with the mazdaspeed exhaust?
I know they don't advertise any hp gains, but that may be more due to the fact that mazda wouldn't want to advertise it gaining hp since it doesn't effect the warranty... that could get them in trouble down the road if you think about it if they endorse something that gives you 10 extra hp or so.
I don't know, I watched that best motoring vid and the mazdaspeed 8 looked pretty peppy on the straights.

I am getting the mazdaspeed exhaust within the next month and ill be able to tell u then considering im goona get it dynoed b4 and after at rotary performance. The exhaust is really expensive (1250) and few ppl want to spend tihs on exhaust w/o numbers to back it up.
Nope, Mazdaspeed said somewhere it was like a 3 HP gain over stock. Pretty disappointing. Not worth the money, IMHO. If you're determined to spend that kind of dough, get the JIC titanium, then you get HP gains AND weight savings. Just my 2 cents.

Rosenthal Mazda has the Mazdaspeed exhaust for $599
Are you serious? Im going to check on that...i found it for 1250 over the internet and was going to order through rotary performance. Well, i may be changing that now. Thanks for the info.
According to the Japanese Mazdaspeed web site, the Mazdaspeed 8 also has a modified ECU, intake and a lighter flywheel for more power as well as suspension mods and lighter wheels. I suspect those are more responsible for the improved performance rather than just the exhaust.

its what happens when buy from a dealer in the US rather then buying an item from a shop that pays tariffs when buys it from an importer who bought it from a dealer in Japan... that 2 less markups

Got a URL? Just asking because the brochure I got from the dealer shows stock rims and doesn't mention lighter rims, except as an OPTION. This is the OFFICIAL MS RX-8 that is limited to 300 cars. All the parts except maybe the ECU and intake (I haven't come across it yet) are available to buy piece by piece... which will cost you more than the MS packaged car.
EDIT: Almost forgot... the MS brochure also says that the exhaust change is both muffler AND catalyst... There seems to be a decent amount of power available at the cat... Don't forget the larger oil cooler. There is a post I put of the translation of most of the brochure in the General Discussion... search for "JDM Mazdaspeed RX-8" and you should find it with no problem.

Well i have ordered the system and rotary performance in garland is going to install it for me in addition to performing before and after dynos. I will post the results when i get them friday. The system ended up costing 800 and 75 for the install.
Originally posted by RX82004 However, Chis does expect that there will be a HP gain similar to the Greddy system, but Mazda does not wish to advertize this.
Thank you... I'm looking forward to seeing the results

My exhaust was installed and sounds great. The pipes are the same size as the original pipes exactly except they stick out slightly farther and have mazdaspeed laser engraved on the side of them. When he first turned my car on i heard a nice purr from the engine...much deeper. At idle the noise isnt very loud, but from about 3000 to 6000 it sounds amazing and screams above that level. I will post a sound clip and dyno charts when chris sends them to me...it made 7hp at the wheels and he may post the results at rx7.com...he took photos of the installed product. It didnt cost as much as i anticipated....after tax and install it came out to 889 dollars. This is an amazing exhaust system that i would definately recommend to anyone who doesnt want huge tips (Greddy SP2), which i had originally planned to get but decided i did not care for the style of the tips...they looked like overkill by about 500 horsepower.

thanks for the info... i'd love to hear the sound clip and see the dyno

Any chance pix were posted? I looked at the site but couldn't find anything about the exhaust.
