New RX-8 Owner 05 Shinka. Need tips on what polish and wax to use.

SOrry if these are seem like stupid questions this is my first nice car Ive had so I never really worried about polishing or waxing my old ones cuz yea they where old.
I just bought a new 05 RX-8 Its the Shinka edition, the purplish black color. I need some advice on what I should do in terms of polish and wax like what kind for that color if it even matters at all.

Thanks.

Zaino..get the starter kit online. A little more pricey but you won't regret it on that dark color. I have yet to see a better wax on dark cars.

Why would you put a giant copyright notice on the pic?

what's your budget? if you're willing to spend a little bit (but not extreme like swissvax), i like these

Menzerna intensive polish / Lake Country CCS orange
Menzerna final finish / CCS gray
LSP: Blackfire wet diamond

http://pages.sbcglobal.net/gheumann/zaino_test/

here is a link that compares zaino vs meguiars and its a fair test he tried to make it scientific as possible. when i did my coatings i only did one layer each and didnt let it dry as much (time to dry for me was the time it took to get around the car). but i will try in a few weeks and let it dry overnight.

But i used the nxt tech wax and the color looks like liquid blue the first time i did the wax i couldnt believe it and had to keep going to the garage to double check if i thought i was seeing.

Any way meguires gives your money back if you dont like what it looks like on your car so you can try a few different ones and see what ones you like (but check on their site first).

sorry, but that's a terrible review

I'm not a zaino fan at ALL, I actually think there are far superior products with a lot less money involved, but trying to compare an OTC product like gold class with zaino is a nono. Not that gold class is a bad product, it's just not on the same level.

There are too many factors involved. But i guarantee you zaino will outlast and outperform 100% of whatever you can find at Autozone. I'd like to see the author try a water beading test after 10 washes.

Camera's don't do too well picturing the differences between LSP products btw, so having a picture to show how glossy a paint looks between the two is pointless.

NXT is a decent sealant, but fails miserably in terms of longevity. Almost any sealant will look good as soon as you apply.

my two cents.

Thanks for that i thought zaino might be better but i cant get it here in new zealand but meguires i can get from any where and its at a decent price. the thing is with my wax, is that every time i wash the car it rains within the week and every time i wax the car a storm comes within a few days (this is no joke im sick of it- so longevity is important to me and meguires nxt last about 2-3 months with moderate rain(and still beading)) but ive notice something that i like and that is after i wax the car and wash it the next week or fortnight the paint looks way better.

Meguires looks better if you wash it off.

I thought i was losing it and i tried it on my brothers custom painted car and it did the same. The colour becomes deep, rich and luminous thus pulling out the pearl out of the paint like the green out of winning blue.

But it is your choice at the end and what you like the look of on your car

I like/use Griot's Garage polish, but Maguair's NXT Tech 2 wax.

Dark colors, like the '05 black cherry mica Shinka, always seem to attract a lot of dust, etc. Actually all do, but it just shows up more on dark colors. On the plus side, a dark color shows shine the best.

If you want lower exterior looks maintenance, get a silver vehicle.
