Navagation System

Does anyone have any info on the navagation system?

-DVD or CD-ROM?

-Picture of the dash with the screen.

-Is the same system in any other Mazdas? (or Fords?)

-What company will make the ROM discs (Navtech?)

-Will the stereo be integrated?

Any other info would be great. Thanks!

I read somewhere that it would be DVD based witha 7" popup screen.

Standard car has climate control (not dual zone, also no rear vents) as can be seen in pics.

There is no need for rear vents due to the small size of the interior. As for dual zone I think that it is not neccisary in a sports car, just extra weight.

I remember seeing a picture of the Mazda NAV display (I think it was in a Mazda 6) and it looked wonderful. I believe they called it 3D NAV and it looked amazing! You have to see it to believe it!!! The graphics actually look 3D!!!!!!

Unfortunately I cannot find out anything more about it, but if that is what Mazda is putting in the rx8 I am definitely getting it on mine.

Does anyone here know anything more about this amazing piece of electronics?

You can see two pictures of the 8 NAV in the PressKit.

The 3d is only for American (Not for Europe and I dont for Japan)

I would be supprised if the US version is 3D (I am not trying to Knock your info Gaz just surprized). That takes a lot more data to have 3D info. I have seen a couple of versions of 3D Nav in Japan (business trips a couple of years ago). They were really cool but Japan is about the size of California. When you add must major cities in the US it gets to be big. I have not seen such a system in the US. I will be very happy if the RX-8 has 3D data.

Infiniti has it on the G35. Works well and looks great. Some landmarks are also shown (famous/tall buildings in 3 D relief). All on one DVD. I believe the Accord has similar 3D system.
