Compression check advice

Hi there, new to the forum. I am looking at a used '07 to purchase. The car happens to be a a dealer who has a sister Mazda dealership. I am wanting to take the car to the Mazda dealership and pay for a compression test before purchasing the car. What do you guess the odds are that the Mazda service department will give me a straight answer since the car is actually being sold by one of their sister dealerships? If you think there might be some sort of collusion, what would be the best way to insure that I get accurate test results? The next closest Mazda dealer is two hours away. I don't think the selling dealership will let me drive the car that far for the testing. This is a great forum with some invaluable information. This thread in particular has helped me understand the car that I thinking of buying. Thank you in particular for any advice you may have to offer.

You should get six compression readings(three front rotor and three rear rotor) and the speed it was done at. Then bring them back hear...

I will post the readings here, but what I am wondering is if you think the dealership service dept. will fudge on the readings to sell the car?

Just get the print out from the test. If you're that paranoid, just request to stand in on the test and then get a hard copy of the results right then and there.

Some dealerships won't let you go inside their garage to wait for your car. You will have to wait in their customer's lounge, or they will call you if its all done. Anyway, you could request it and see if they will let you, or you could just wait for the results. Either way, whatever comes up with the results, the car will still be under the warranty (engine warranty).

sjschutz, that's good advice. I will watch them print it out and get a copy. I will post the results here. I think they said they would put the car on the diagnostic machine too to see if it threw any codes. Thanks.

Monchie, that's good advice also. If they won't let me watch then I will get the hard copy. I know the engine has a extended warranty, but didn't want to go through the hassle of getting the work done and having to provide oil service records that I am sure won't come with the car. Hopefully the number come up acceptable.
