ON Brakes....any suggestions?

I went to the dealership the other day to checkout some brake prices. I just want to replace the brakes ( don't really have the money right now for a big brake kit). I'm just looking for some suggestions for brands and places to shop. Any one in the Mississauga area have any shops?

Thanks dudes!

stock brakes are AWESOME.... unless you are doing some kind of racing that requires you to be constantly braking, I would stay stock.

If you're looking for brake pads, I think Autozone sells ceramic brake pads that are replaceable for life, and they don't dust up your wheels as much as the stock ones.

I like the hawk hps brake pads. I matched them up with some stop tech slotted rotors. But if you want to keep cost down just go with some new brake pads. Might as well put some new brake fluid in to. www.injectedperformance.com

Get the Hawk Ceramic pads they work well. I chage mine because they started squeaking and lots of dust . Thats a problem many have had here with stock.

Since ...... no dust no squeaking................

Akebono ceramic brakes... they're the best ceramic brakes. I don't know how people can go out and buy second rate aftermarket parts... she's supposed to be your baby. "I'll just go buy walgreens-brand cow's milk to feed me baby" ...that's what I'm hearing. This is what I view as ideal for OEM replacement.. provided no one wants to drop on Brembo Big Brakes....

Brembo cross-drilled sports brake rotors (not slotted)
Akebono ceramic brake pads,
NHT powder coated brake calipers (or just keep stock calipers),
Goodridge steel brake lines,

Don't really mean to sound like a cheap SOB, I was into about 160 bucks for stock rotors and if I could get the same or better quality from somewhere other than the stealership I would give em a try. Remember alot of the really good companies like Brembo don't have a dealers in Canada so we pay jack up american rates. As far a hawk pads I have a place to get them.
To add to that I'm up to 1200 bucks on tire rack (slotted rotors and hawk pads) and 1200 bucks at the dealer (mazda replacement parts).

I appreciate the input guys keep it coming! This site has been a big help for me learning about my car.

I have my stock front rotors and pads (6MT sport) with 5K miles on them. I could sell them to you for $50 plus shipping.

PM me your e-mail address if you want pictures.

If you're trying to be frugal and just want OEM replacments, take a look at http://zeckhausenracing.com/

Centric rotors are very reasonably priced.

BTW, there is a braking faq in the brakes/suspension part of the forum.

never fear, Jedi is here!

The stock pads are actually VERY good BUT they let of a ton of brake dust and are prone to squealing.
My suggestion: get the rotors turned, reuse them and get a pair of Hawk Ceramic pads. You'll love the results and your checking account will thank you.

i would stay away from the dealership. i paid rotor-resurfacing and brake pad change for just the front wheels which i could have used to get new rotors for all four wheels and hawks ceramic pads with it. that was the first and the last time i bring it in for brakes. former-employees admitted brake jobs are their bread-and-butter at the dealership. i'd find other places or someone who knows and bring a case of beer.

I've checked this out seems good. Have you used a set of the Centric "slotted" ?
That probably the best price compared to the stuff I've seen locally.

thanks again !
