A Sad Day...

Guys, Today is truly a sad day. My 06 shinka was severely possibly fatally injured today when another driver pulled out in front of me as I was doing 45. Im Ok, just a sprained wrist and sore everything, but I shed many tears as I looked over the damage. insurance is going to look at in the morning or beginning of the week. what hurts most is that I had a set of aftermarket fenders I was saving up to put on her, now that might never happen.

i dont think its totaled out, when i totaled my rx8 the clear indicating factor was that the fender moved past the door. your fender doesnt look like it even shifted.

keep a lookout on the forums for used body panels and use the extra $ you saved to buy those fenders! or some mazdaspeed goodies. turn that frown upside down!

The lady in the other car was ok until she had a panic attack and fainted in the street. The worst part of it was she had 2 small kids in the car too.

Wow...glad to hear everyone was okay. Same thing happened to me years ago...but I was driving a 79 Dodge Omni

Tires are both still pointed in the same direction, and she's still sitting on the front suspension...I think she'll make it. Good luck.

Glad to hear you are ok.

Seems like it can be fixed. But certainly an auto body shop would have to examine for internal damage - especially to the unibody.

After all, you might get to install those body parts

does anyone know if anyone from Pettit Racing‎ lurks these forums? I was thinking about, if possible, having them work on my car.

Sorry to hear man, but there's no way to tell if it's totaled or not from the pictures. If the frame is bent....then most likely totaled. But good luck either way.

Got a new ride yesterday, 2012 Mazda Speed3. I know one day I'll be back in a rotary, its in my blood, but for now Im trying something different. I hope you guys are not too mad at me.

That being said in the next few days Im going to be putting a few parts I have sitting around for my old 8 up for sale here on the site.

Heres an interesting question for this thread; did your airbags go off? You were going 45 MPH and no airbag deployment? Once the airbags go off I'd consider the car a done deal. They're expensive and I'd rather have the stock ones in anyways, but I would have thought at that speed when your front end none the less hits something with you yourself being the moving object, they would have went off (on a light car like this none the less). Maybe I'm a bit off but on my old pontiac I hit a tree at about 45-50 and both front ones went off. Sorry to hear about the accident and I'm glad your ok and got a new car.

Yes the airbag did go off and the seat belt was wreaked. Those two parts alone were going to cost 1500.

Head lights and hood are going to be another $1500-$2000. Fender and oil cooler are probably another $1000.

There's a good bet the car is totalled.
