Replacement tire help

Hey guys so I found my car with a flat tire this morning and used the tire repair kit ect ect to get it to fountain tire. Anyway the tire I blew was a bridgestone potenza RE050A. So what I am wondering is whether I could put a bridgestone potenza RE040(same size) on to replace the flat because there is one on sale on kijiji for 50$ with 90% tread. Fountain tire is trying to repair my Re050a right now

Thanks guys

You can put on whatever tires you want, it would work if you need one until you can buy matching ones. Generally people try not to mismatch the models. They are both performance summer tires but they have different tread patterns on them.

I think it is also recommended to replace both tires at once, like if your right front got a flat then replace both fronts so the tread is even. At least that is what I have always been told. Also if they are going to repair your tire remember that it will no longer be rated at the other tires max speed, sites online are saying about 80mph MAX with a tire plug.

I would not want to mix tires because they have different grip they will handle differently a max grip level. 99.9% of the time it wont matter but that 0.1% of the time might cost you your car or worse.

For all the reasons listed above. Personally I don't like mismatched tires, just because it does not look right. However I do understand that economics plays a huge role in what people buy. $50 for a tire of just about any size with 90% life is a pretty good deal.

If you used the Mazda tire repair kit with the inflation slime, your TPMS sensor is basically shot and needs to be replaced too, unless you don't mind the annoying dash light. To this day I never understood why Mazda would supply a tire sealant kit when it destroys your sensor. o well tis life
