KY Question about red/black steering wheel

The red on my 2 tone '04 steering wheel has really faded and looks pretty bad. Just about the only blemish on the car. Is there any info on possibly dyeing the red? if so how would you find the color match? Would an auto interior dealer have experience on this? Would love to have it taken care of just not quite sure the best route. Thanks for any info you may be able to give me.

I've read about dying steering wheels and from what've seen, it's no good. I've read about dye getting on hands and not lasting long. Hopefully you'll be able to fare better. Now would be a good time to go aftermarket or just buy a stocker.

Lots of part-outs at the moment - see how much a 'new' one would be.....

If you don't want to fade out the color some more, then you could just put a steering wheel cover for now, until you could find a solution to the fading color.

That and/or a good leather conditioner. I had a pair of Bostonian brown leather shoes that looked almost white because of years of abuse, lol.

But I liked them a lot. So I went to the Bostonian store and they sold me this conditioner that I don't know how brought most of the color back.

Lots of auto leather stuff in auto parts stores. Give it a try. Who knows, one of this products "might" restore some of the color on your steering wheel.

I have the same red and black wheel, which, i didnt realize when i bought the car, because it was all black...(i preferred the two tone, anyway). Well I was using the leather wipes, by turtle wax, and now its two tone again. Its still rough, and I'm working on getting it more pristine. I've tried a leather conditioner (i work at a limo company, have some laying around), and it helped a little, but i might try going with a different brand.

Anyway, just wanted to share, the wipes worked quite well, surprisingly, and i think i paid like 2 bucks for a pack (green package).

BTW, haven't heard from Phrenetik for a while. Did he sold his rx8? What happened to him? Just curious.
