MPG is killing the RX8.

My CX9 is getting better MPG than my RX8 ever did. And I am doing the same driving and almost the same speeds. 3000 lb 230 HP vs 270 4500 lb.

Maybe it is time for Mazda to get rid of the rotary?

Why would you bring up gas mileage on this forum? That is an instant way to get flamed.

I can understand those who worry about gas mileage, and if I could get the rest of the RX-8 package with better fuel mileage, that would be great. But I can't. Gas mileage is the price you pay to get the rest of the package. For me, I'd rather pay the extra fuel cost and enjoy the drive than find a more boring alternative that's better on gas. If you're enjoying your CX-9, that's great. For me, as long as my family situation allows, I'll be driving a sporty car, probably an RX-8. When/if I need to get something bigger, I'll miss my RX-8 and be glad I drove it while I could.

I doubt the CX-9 and the RX-8 were bought for the same reasons/purposes.

Does the CX-9 also, accelerate, corner, brake, drift and ride like the 8, too?

Hmmmmmmm?

doesn't get that much worse than its competitors.
Rx8- 22hwy
350z-25 hwy
S2000-25hwy

I average 16-18 and I drive mostly city and redline regularly. So change your tampon and accept it.

The OP is the most pessimistic member here.
He loves to bum people out and talk trash on his own car.

we have all learned to ignore him/her

OP sold his '8 for nothing, then comes here to reinforce the gas mileage woes.

Overall a very negative person, was once banned for similar behaviour. I just wish he'd just suck it up and get on with his miserable CX-9 owning life.......

Some of us LOVE our cars!

OP needs to go away and find a CX-9 forum

It's not our fault he wasn't smart enough to do his research before he bought the car...yet we have to put up with his nonstop complaining, even after he got rid of his 8

It must be proud to drive a mini-van around. The CX-9 probably turned a lot of heads.

Also it must be as good handling, as balance, as smooth revving, most important , as fast as my rx-8.

Hmm, Im sure it does.

Im pretty sure my Honda FIT can get better MPG than your Cx-9 ever will. so whats your point ?

Get an Infiniti FX-50 that does 0-60 in 5.2 seconds and even has RX-8 style fender vents. Won't corner as well, but that is one sporty ute. Who knows what kind of mileage it gets?

Difference is 9 holds 3 more people and is all wheel drive.

But to all the over reactionary people. I loved the 8 and the looks and handling, not the motor, it always felt like it could die any day. Mazda should dump the rotary and go with pistons.

Are you friggin' kidding me? You're trying to trash talk the RX-8 on a RX-8 forum and compare it to a heavy SUV/Minivan with 3 rows of seats?

Sounds like you're blind. Many many people love the car specifically because of the engine.

Mine is amazing. Hope you enjoy being a soccer mom.

i ******* hate threads like this.

if you really can't stand the MPG of the 8 then sell it already and stop bitching. the 8 has and always will be a gas hog. you should have known that when you bought it.

you DID research that before you bought it, riiiiiiiiiiiiiight??

plus, the resale value sux because of bad mpg and unreliable engine. all would be fixed if the engine was replaced.
