First Post Hello!
Hey everyone, I'm new to the Club, but not new to the 8. I've poked around on here a few times but finally want to get involved to share my experience with the car. I've owned my lightning yellow 2004 6MT GT since 2005. I've also owned five RX7s in the past and they've been a hobby of mine since I was 16. I'm the second owner of this 8, and got it with 11k miles on it. Currently has just over 58k. Since I live in Colorado it's been more of a warm weather car and hibernates in the winter, hence the low mileage. I've babied it since day one and done all the maintenance myself. Only time it's ever seen a mechanic was about two weeks after I got it I brought it in for a service bulletin for the flooding issue. It runs as strong now as the day I got it.
I love this car and plan to keep it for a long time, but it's time to upgrade some things. Over the last couple months I have started to think about doing some mods to the car, and I figured I would start with the appearance. Only thing I've changed is the wheels, back in 2007 I got the ADR M-Classic 18x8.5, black with a polished lip.
I wanted to get a body kit and after a ton of research I decided to go with the Shine Auto autobahn replica. I ordered the front bumper and side skirts a couple weeks ago and I am working on fitting the bumper right now. Doing the work myself, but I'll take it to a shop to have it painted. I've read about all the fitment issues and mine were no different. Overall the product is great and fitment is spot on, with the exception of the dreaded side markers. After messing with them for a couple days I decided just to shave them; I used fiberglass cloth to fill in the holes. The side skirts were perfect, I literally had to do nothing to them other than a light sanding.
Still working on the car and hopefully will have it painted and finished in the next couple weeks. I'll start a build thread and post pics as soon as it's done. Just wanted to say thanks to everyone who has posted info about this kit in the past, it really helped me make a wise decision.
