Driving 1st impressions here!
Hello, I'm new here, but not to car forums. I'm sure that all you 8 owners know how nice this car drives, but there are many lurkers here like myself who do not. Until yesterday! I went and test drove one. To all those who think that it has not torque, think again, it was perfectly driveable at 2000 rpm which was really surprising to me. No lugging of the engine at all. Very smooth power delivery. I am liking the 8 more and more. The back seats really are useable, it's amazing. I'll be getting a base model with NO options, it's over my budget, but there's not much else in the 20K price range that I like. I just hope that I can afford one next year. I am building a new house and don't want one until I have a garage to put it in, so I have to wait quite a while. I'm already saving by paying off my wife's 626 early. I really want velocity red but am afraid of attention from cops. I'm a mature driver, but I do speed sometimes. Silver is a very nice alternative. If that red wasn't so damn unique! How'd they get it to sparkle like that!?

Good luck with your RX-8 quest. Hope you get your Velocity Red! The sparkle comes from a last coat of sparkle paint before the clear coat. In the sun it's a WOW! Otherwise it's really hard to notice. When people get up close to mine and see that they always comment - LOOK AT THAT!!
BTW, the red I have doesn't get any more attention from our friends in bubbletop cars than any other color, in my experience. Although I have had a few of them say they really DO like the red!

Well, red catches the eye easier in a sea of cars while silver blends in better. I don't think they look for red cars(they might!), but the speeding red one will catch your eye without even looking for it.

All I can say about the color is that I have always been a gray person (to my fiance's dismay, even most of my underwear is gray). So it seemed natural :D
