boshart eng. wants MY car for 7-10 days
Has anyone else received this letter. I searched and there was nothing to answer my question.
"Boshart engineering , inc. has been requested by MNAO to acquire 2006 model year vehicles for the purpose of measuring the emissions control system performance. Your vehicle has been chosen . . . . candidate . . . no obligation or charge . . you will be provided with;
-comparable vehicle
-inspection
-pick up and delivery
-check for $150
-wash and fill up
We need maintenance records. . . . your vehicle for 7-10 days . . . approx 50 miles plus delivery milage . . If interested return letter to . . "
That is the abbreviated version. Now my question
WHO ELSE GOT THIS LETTER AND IS IT WORTH IT?

Never heard of them but a quick google search turned up:

Personally, I don't want some total stranger tinkering with my car for two days just to see how much exhaust fumes they can produce at 9,000 rpm. If you really want $150 and a shitty rental for two days go for it, otherwise...waste of time.

Sound fishy. Why 7-10 days, especially if only 50 miles will be required. Check w/MNAO to ensure it's not a scam.
Not worth it either way, imo. $150 (call it $250 if you're actually due for an inspection) for 7-10 days w/o the 8; + who knows what asshat messing with it, drooling on it, scratching it, and gawd knows what else . . .

I work part time for Boshart Eng.
It's totally up to you if you want to do it or not. All they do is test your car for emissions. They've used my 8 to test for codes. It's no big deal and they cut you a check. Nothing big but it's extra cash and they take really good care of your car.

It is legit. The letter came from mazda introducing boshart. So it is all on the up and up, just . . are they gonna reset my CPU? are they gonna tinker with my emmissions?

It clicks on my link for those answers...
They'll pretty much just hook up a data recorder and test it at different intervals to see emissios figures. Again, this isn't about whether it's legit or not, it's whether it's worth it.
-Comparable vehicle: hello Dodge Neon
-Inspection: this takes 7 days apparently....
-Pick up and Delivery: makes no sense since they're giving you a car.
-Check for $150: Hmm, lets think about that. $150 divided by 7 - 10. Yeah, that's what I rent my car out to total strangers for all the time.
-Wash up and Fill: Wash? No thanks, I'd like to keep swirl marks to a minnimum. Fill-up, I would hope so because they'll be testing the **** out of it for 7 days.
- Bottom line: it's your call. If it were me, I never in a thousand years would hand over the keys to my car for something like this. There's not nearly enough in it for me.
