Best Rx8 review on earth by a bimmer driver

Oldies but goodies...

e92 335i - confessions of an ex RX8 owner. Warning: may offend some viewers!

Really great, logical, and flattering review for our car.

Thanks for sharing that. That thread was very interesting. The E90 folks seem like a good bunch of auto enthusiasts.

Pretty good review. The first page of replies wasn't so bad either...except for one person mentioning reliability, of course. Otherwise, most people understand and some agree!

Read the whole thread and you will discover a lucky bastard who own BOTH rx8 and 335i coupe!

It just warms my heart that ... I have the same engine fuel consumption as the great 335i motor while having none of its torque and hp...oh wait

I should be crying lol

But we do have 300kg less though!

Good write up which explains what some experience in the 8 (including myself) and hopefully making others that scream slow/lack of power understand what the 8 is all about by pointing out the key areas where it excels and its fun-to-drive factor which seems to be hard to put into words and is not really fully understandable until the car is driven for more than a brief test drive.

People owning bmw does not know what reliability means therefore shouldn't write on things they have not experienced before.
I believe there are a few ex-rx8 owners who now have 335i too.

I think in the cases where we have seen other RX8 drivers move onto different cars the responses have been fair about as much as they have been unfair.

This is a great writeup not because it flatters the RX8 but because it's a true representation of what the car IS and not comments about what the car SHOULD be. I've seen far too many people post up complaining about lack of torque, poor gas mileage, or whatever other shallow opinions of the vehicle.

I think the OP of that thread made an excellent point in that all cars are compromises with the exception of some rare supercars. With that being said, we have many RX8 owners who feel they should have their cake and eat it too. They want a stylish car which has razor sharp handling and 400whp.

The truth is, the RX8 isn't for everyone. We have 100's of different cars out there because not everyone has the same taste, needs, or budget.

The fact is that the RX8 offers a unique motor, style, and appearance. Not everyone likes unique, some prefer to be mainstream and not step out of line. Still, I've enjoyed the fact that my car is totally different than everything else out there.

Very nice write up. It's nice to see how people with more expensive cars, can still see what an RX8 is all about.

Very nice review, and the crowd does likely have to do with the price range of an 350/s2000 versus any E92 BMW I'd think.

"The front row cup holders are inconveniently located in the armrest about where the heated/cooled one is found in the 335i - but the RX-8 doesn't heat or cool these cup holders."

We may not have cooling cup holders but we definately have heating cup holders!

edit: found this just after posting:

"With my Mazda's (Miata and RX-8) that have had the cup holder over the transmission tunnel, there's only one setting for the drinks I put there ... heat. "

yeah, that made me laugh. I've learned not to put my cell phone in there, or other heat sensitive items.
