After market ***** on Axial Flow shifters
Yes, I searched the threads, and there must be over 30 pages on RP's shifter and shift *****.
I bought a MOMO F16 **** and tried it on my RP shifter. It is a tad loud. RP hisself said the reccomended **** is the stock ****. Not a shifter problem.
Fair enough, but has anyone tried a Monster **** on RP's shifter? Is it relatively quiet? Anyone want a MOMO F16 CF **** for cheap? Dealer won't take it back cause I installed it.

The **** in question attaches to the shifter shaft via set screws. Hence a metal to metal connection causing the **** to become sort of a sounding board or sound amplifier..think slide steel guitar (George Thorogood or Dire Straits). I'm no music expert, so I may get hammered on this.
Anyway. The RP SS is slightly louder, I guess due to better shifter feel & less shifter isolation. Anyway, the stock ****, suggested by RP hisself, appears to have softer nylon threads, is ?leather? covered and is a heckuvalot quieter than a MOMO F16. In a perverse way, I kinda like the transmission sound, too. But........
I'd take a photo of the ****, but my right hand is in a cast, so I can barely pick my nose, let alone run a camera. I may have 2 hands tomorrow. For now:
Picture of item: I see that damned little red x

RP shifter is definitly NOT for sale. Like my guns, it will have to be pried from my cold, dead fingers! Talk to RP if you want one.
I'll let the **** go for $50.00. The education in acoustics was $104.00. It wasn't even on the shifter a day. I bought because I had a MOMO Raptor on my last C5. The **** was quiet, but the B&M Ripper ended up with over a pound of lead to keep it quiet. Just two totally different cars.

Out of all the shift ***** I've installed on the RX-8, the 99-04 OEM Miata shift **** is by far the best. It is shaped the same as the Mazdaspeed shift **** as pictured above, and it really does shift like a dream. The Voodoo type sphere ***** are nice to look at, but they lack the leverage of the tall and stubby Miata shift ****.
Something like the Momo F16 would also work better because of the leverage provided by it's height.

To put this to bed, at least for me, my Monster Shift **** arrived. Screwed on, looks good, doesn't make any noise. Kind of plain, but I'm having fun feeling and playing with my Monster ****!

With one hand available for work, I didn't want to tear that friggin' console apart, again. So, I did the quick and dirty install per Monster ****'s instructions. I'm happy.
