Nice Build! Great to see the DCT in there with some room and little to no modifications to the trans tunnel that I can see. I'm currently collecting parts for a build and have a ZF 8HP50 that I plan to use with a CANTCU. They are pretty similar in size, so fingers crossed I don't have to chop things up!

What are your thoughts on the Haltech? I'm planning to use Haltech or MaxxECU, MaxxECU may sway me if they can get Gen 2 ZF 8HP's working with their ECU by the time I need it since it would save me the cost of the CANTCU.

Inputing the settings yourself for either that or DCT isn’t as simple as you might think. It can lead to a lot of frustration and headaches. The CanTcu is PnP and immediately provides OEM type operation, but I heard that even it has an occasional quirk that they have to work through and update for.

you did it proper though, even the one pic on that link with all the open space around it isn’t the correct way to maximize it’s usefulness.

Thanks Team, I'm aware. I've done a fair bit of research on control options which is why I'm avoiding HTG and TurboLamik(Although people seem to have better results here than HTG). CANTCU is the primary consideration now, but we'll see how MaxxECU 8HP control evolves, they just launched it within the last month or so, they've had DCT control for a little while now. Actually, CANTCU is my only viable option right now since I have a Gen 2 ZF 8HP50 which is not currently supported by MaxxECU. I'm still in the collecting parts phase so I have a fair bit of time, have the engine and trans, but need many other things!

Basically what Team said. I do not know the support is there with MaxxECU on a local level? But having direct control is nice. I know a guy that is running the MaxxECU on a DCT Rx7 and he seems to like it. He is going to try a 8HP just because he likes to try new things. You can also send CAN programming commands to keypads and do some cool things there if you are familiar with CAN protocol and programming. Where Haltech does not have this feature. The CANTCU is plug and play. So that was super nice! it does have a few hiccups here and there, but I just drove the car in full automatic mode last night. Its was like driving a factory auto dang near. And with the push of a button, i'm slapping paddles. I have local support for the Haltech, and for the last four-five years have really enjoyed Haltech as a company and the support all around. I am sure someday they will have the ability to control the DCT directly. My tuner is controlling a lexus auto trans directly in his KA swapped Rx8.

Thanks for the feedback! Finding a local tuner is a big consideration when choosing the ECU so we'll see how that goes, I'll need to build a tune for the engine I'm using from scratch either way.
