Cool Pretty sure this is a good buy, but just incase...

This is an '04 with 50k miles on it, dealer wants 13,999.
red
red/blk leather interior
sunroof
6 spd manual (of course!)
clean carfax

I have the dealer down to 12,500...would you suggest it could be had for lower?

I'm in the wrong location then...I'm in Tacoma WA and it seems like up here cars just cost more.
I found one with like 120k for $10,ooo or so, and I've been checking Craigslist/Autotrader/Cars.com everyday for a couple weeks.

Doesn't seem like a good deal to me, but I'm essentially in the same location as 9k.

I'm sure I'm starting to sound like a broken record, but it seems like every time someone posts a car they are looking at, someone else knocks it because they don't realize the difference in prices across the country.

Take a few mins, shop for cars in the a Pacific NW, and see for yourself... Check out CL, Auto Trader, Cars.com, whatever.

I'd save a little longer and get something newer than 04...But that's just me. It sounds a bit high to me, but if that's the norm there, then that's that.

For where you are 12,500 sounds like it's in-line. It's a Mazda dealer as well so you would hope they've gone over the car technically for you.

Maybe you could throw in a free compression test first to make sure the engine is is good running order. Might be worth a shot, at least then you'd have some piece of mind.

Ask for a compression test before you buy (most 04 issue).

Anyway, try to get it down to were you are comfortably paying. I think $10k is just right for an 04 with 50k miles on it.

Got it! compression test was good, they had it all on file. Since it was a Mazda dealership they had all of the recalls taken care of as well. The previous driver traded it on a brand new RX-8, so I'm assuming he knew his stuff while he had it. Tires are good too.

Drove a stick once before like 3 years ago lol...still gettin used to that, gonna grab a couple quarts of oil to put in the trunk.
Ended up getting the car for 12...got a 3 yr/36k mile warranty for 1500 financed in.
