And anyone else who is interested, I'll be catching The Hobbit at 3:20 at the Cinetopia 23 in Vancouver. It is being shown in 3D at 48 fps, but what's drawing me there is the Dolby Atmos. DA is big time 3D audio. They have speakers up on the ceiling, and the Cinetopia is the only theater in the area that has it.

Hey no problem.
But the Beaverton Cinetopia doesn't have Dolby Atmos hehehe
I'll let you know if the audio experience is good. It was suppossedly filmed with Atmos in mind, so I should hear a lot of stuff flying around and going past me.

I understand, and it's too short of notice
It was last minute for me and I didn't know how long The Hobbit would be playing here in the Atmos theater.
Well I liked the movie, and the theater is awesome! There is a big downstairs for gen. admis. and a small upstairs for 21+ so they can serve alcohol and I think food too. Pretty cool.
The movie was played in 3D, which is something I am not a fan of. I see a bunch of reflections/shiny edges because of the glasses and I think it is too gimicky to enhance the movie. I could do without it and be happy. It was also shown on a 70ft screen, so that was cool.
Now for the Atmos, it was pretty cool! I feel they could have done so much more with the positional audio, but when they put it in, it was awesome. Outside you can hear the wind through the trees all around you. There wasa scene were everyone was sleeping, I thought someone behind me had fallen asleep and started snoring. I can't wait until it is used more often, I think it can really enhance the movie. Oh, and it was loud, probably a bit too loud, but maybe I'm just getting older
Well, I'm on my way to Tigard to check out the track.

I still need to get out and see the Hobbit. A freind of mine at work saw it in that same theater, and also said the big screen, high frame rate, and atmos sound really made it worth going.

Wish I could of made it out to Sykart, it's been too long since I've been. I haven't seen the current layout. I had a membership there last year, but I never get out that way.

The Atmos was really cool. In one of the scenes one of the dwarves yelled off camera, and I thought it was someone in the crowd behind me to the left Atmos is worth checking out. I might have to make another trip to see the new Star Trek.
I guess with Atmos they can do up to 64.2 channels.
If I am ever back up in the area with some time I wil set up another Sykart night (with some notice haha.)
