Update!

Hey guys, sorry for the lack of updating, I've been really busy with an FC I got for the past two weeks.

Long story short, I ended up telling them to just replace the wiring harness, because after two months of them trying to get it to replicate the issue and my car just sitting down there, I wanted it back. The harness had 16,000 miles on it, so I told them sure, i'll take it, install the harness.

A week or two pass by, and eventually I call and Cam said it was done and runs great, and they "did alittle extra to it" (he mentioned doing the coolant bypass on the throttle body...but funny thing is..he did that for me when I was there back in march before any of this started... but I digress)

Fast forward...just got the car back this past Tuesday. I couldn't find Cam around anywhere when I got there to pick it up. But overall..I'm left with mixed opinions after all is said and done. Total bill ended up being around 438~, not including the 200.00 I spent the first time I towed it there.

The car was parked out front, had a dead battery, they tried to jump it, no luck, then finally my dad got his cables and we jumped it from his car (for the record i'm not a teenager, I just had no other means down there to get the car, its about a three hour drive.)

It smoked a bit, which I'm assuming is probably for sitting for two months, like the dead battery. I pull it around back and they hook it up to a charger for about half an hour. While they are doing this I'm looking around the engine bay, all the bolts holding my PCM cover were missing, the clamp holding the hose onto the airpump wasn't on, and one clamp holding one of the hoses on the intake was missing entirely, and my cover for the fuse on the battery terminal was missing as well. I mentioned the PCM bolts, and they fixed that in a few minutes. Minor things, but still somewhat annoying. They did change my alternator belt out though, and I swear my drivers front tire did not have that much tread two months ago. They showed me my old harness, and I went to get squared up with Dan, their go to cashier.

it was supposed to be 450, but he gave me 10% off. Which, I assumed was because of how long this has drawn itself out, so nothing really was said about it.

Car has been fine since, but I just felt like a lot of the small things could have easily been avoided, although I am glad they gave me 10% off and changed my alt belt without asking. Apologize for the late update, that FC has been sucking up alot of my time, lol.

Business must be good for them to treat customers cars like that. That attitude will eventually come back to bite them in the future. Totally disgracefull.

They replaced the entire chassis harness and said it was fixed, but it had a dead battery like nobody had tried to ever start it, which they were also unable to get it jumped?

wow, just wow ...

It also appears that someone flooded the car and drained the battery trying to start it.

The car does not smoke ordinarialy. These guys work on rotaries so they should know how to prevent flooding and resolving a flooded car.

They replaced the egi harness, But yeah, I got inside, told the receptionist I was here to pick it up, she said she was going to get cam (spoiler alert, never saw him) and within a few minutes one of the other mechanics walks through with the key and then outside.

Idk how many of you have been to Pettit before, but the waiting room has thick blinds so you cant really see outside. After a few minutes i look through the window to see my cars hood up and them trying to jump it..my dad and I walk out, its not starting, so that's when the guy asks my dad if he has cables, and my dad grabs them and uses his car to get it started.

I was looking over the car today, and I was checking the fusebox, I noticed the EGI INJ I think is a 15 amp fuse? for some reason they put a 7.5 one in there. I may just be having an adhd moment, but i'll double check tomorrow to make sure I'm not going crazy...(you figure a lower amp fuse would just pop..)

Am I out of line here for being mildly annoyed about this whole thing? the parts and pieces being missing at pickup was just icing on the cake.

Wow, Some mechanics (Techs) are also just sloppy, careless and get frustrated and violent with cars if they don't get their way, leave parts off, they move them and go missing, etc.

These so called specialists are really no different than a Dealer, they all can be hit and miss or the good guys with knowledge and experience built up over years move on...reputations come and go.

No excuses, p*ss poor.

**** poor indeed. But largely typical of most shops (a **** ton) I have dealt with over the last 20+ years of being a gearhead. Kind of weird that they would ask a customer for jumper cables as well. But at least your fix worked. If they didn't want the job they should have refused it.

I knew I wasn't crazy

Took a look at the fusebox again today, I knew I wasn't losing it.

Why would they stick a 7.5a fuse in a 15a slot? I figured it would just blow it immediately.

fuses are based on wiring size, not actual load

All I can think is the smaller fuse is to test. If that ones does not blow, then the bigger one definitely will not blow. But, I would have swapped it back before the car was picked up.

Damn dude. This type of **** really bugs me.

That is a vacuum line for the VFAD setup on the intake. And without it, you will have a vacuum leak. That looks like the hose that goes to the VFAD vacuum solenoid.

That explains quite a bit, Tomorrow I will have to start going through this, the VFAD looks simple enough to troubleshoot. I noticed they also didnt replace all of the PCM bolts AFTER I had mentioned them being missing when I went to pick the car up..I really hope I stop running into things they just didn't bother to do. That vac situation would pretty much explain the occasional miss at idle. Thanks for the diagram 9k, much appreciated
