Vishnu Evo/Car and Driver supercar challenge
Cheapest car of the bunch by nearly 20k, only 4 cylinder in the bunch, nearly the lowest HP, how did it do? 2nd Quickest 1/4 mile (behind the Hennessey Venom), 3rd fastest roadcourse (Behind the Evotech Gallardo and Venom). This car would have taken it's class were it not for a pesky intercooler hose. I'm more impressed with the Evo than ever, and all of you out there still thinking it's just a supped up econobox need to be smacked. I doubt you'll ever see this Shiv but grats, you'll take top honors next year unless another Subaru/Mitsubishi tuner has something to say about it :p

I love that car!
Obviously a little more expensive than anything else...and, more quirky...but I've got a soft spot for snakes.

Vishnu is a great tuner, but he is going to have a battle ahead of him in two months at the EVO tuner (and privateer) shootout!

It was actually in a different class from the Venom and Gallardo, but those were the only cars that topped it in the 1/4 and roadcourse. Though the RSI TT SRT-10 Viper tied it on the roadcourse, and the Lingenfelter 427 TT Vette tied it in the 1/4.

Watch out for Road Race Engineering (RRE) - they have really had a lot of success with suspension set-ups and the privateer, Robi (suspension set up by RRE) who has been doing quite well road racing.

I believe Vishnu was running a much less modfified car back then (I think their Stage 1 posssibly).

Here is a post from the driver of the Vishnu Evo about that issue:
"Yea and you should know it took me two tries to get it into 5th gear on that run (because of a "well seasoned" syncro). which helps explain part of the slower 100-150 run. We could have finished 1st in class and fourth (maybe third) overall. Oh well...pleased as is though ."

The EVO looks aweful. I just fail to understand why people like it so much I guess. I respect it for it's speed and grip, but not much more.
I think if they made a version with larger rims, a MUCH nicer interior, and did something to the body, then I would like it (aka, the powertrain was in another car :p )

The Evo is for people who care about performance above all Else, there was a time when Ferrari's and other supercars were the same way, stripped down interiors with few creature comforts and in many cases with supercars the craftsmanship and tolerances were shoddy. Yes they were very attractive cars, but people loved them for their performance more than anything. Cars like the Evo and STi are the poor mans supercar, except they're actually pretty practical. If you really care that much about the interior of a car you'll never get it. Just keep buying cars with nice interiors and the things that you like, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't be able to understand why people love the Evo.
Interiors are made of plastic, in other words it all the same crap, sometimes it's just molded more fancifully or it's a little bit nicer "crap". If my car has nice supportive seats, good pedal placement, a nice steering wheel, a decent stereo, A/C, and a place to put my drink I'm happy, I don't need much more. Also I like the looks of the Evo, it's not overly busy but looks aggresive, the wing I could go either way with but that stems quite a bit from the rally heritage and does help a bit with stability so I don't really care one way or the other. Just because you and many others don't like the looks of the Evo does not make it a universal opinion.

i seem to remember the 1986 porsche 911SC it had cloth seats plastic interior, no AC, manual windows, but it was a 911 through and through and it moved better than the much more expensive luxury ones..

800hp is a bit tough to tame with any car let alone a RWD car, the Venom did manage to be the only other car in the 3s 0-60 and actually tied the Evo.
