Under body panel fell down and melted

While cruising on the highway I heard a sound of scraping when i pulled over to check it it was the drivers side underpanel the small one thats part of the wheel well any way i was close to dealership so i stopped by they had the part $70 not under warranty ive had my car for less than a year and under 6500 miles The service tech said It was not a design flaw that something must of hit it on the road rocks or something and its not covered

my question is if its under there isnt it supposed to take little rocks and stuff nothing big but come on any suggestions for an angry Rx8 owner

it could be covered under the initial 12 k warranty. but its true they are not really liable for damage like that. you could have, for instance not saying you did, hung it up on a parking curb thingy like this lady and ripped it down- they clearly wouldnt have to cover that

that's a gray though. lol.

i've had to replace my driver side splash shield twice due to... stuff on the road and screw. yea. i don't see it as a design flaw, but i have heard that over time the screws under the bumper will loosen. you might want to check all of them. if they come off while ur driving, the force when you drive will push the splash shield toward the ground.

Do you have the part number for this piece and the one under the front bumper cover? I've been searching and can't find it.

That post is from 2007. He probably will not respond.

ebay has the cheapest ones I've found before. Look up rx8 splash shield or rx8 undertray. Then you'll find the part numbers and beable to search elsewhere.
